  1. I cannot see where the turbo would do anything. Both the air inlet to the turbo and the pressure side are on the intake manifold Below the carb.?? Ideas-explanations?
  2. You sure that is not yours? Sure looks like it! DJ
  3. Wishing you the best. Hopefully the repair shop did a road test.? Suggest they take you on a road test before paying! ? Seems that Marty's shop did not! Makes me very sorry that I brought up the company name and info. that did his repairs. DJ
  4. It is great you're starting this at your age. Wish I had followed up doing old cars/trucks. I had a 37 Ply. bus. cpe when I was 18-21 years old. A nice project that was very drive-able. My only car for 2 years. Restarting the old car addiction at about 55yrs. old. Now days there are metal shaping classes avail. on weekends here and there. A couple of very established teachers are your neck of the woods. Google-metal shaping classes. Keep the Old vehicle faith! DJ
  5. A quick google search for streetrodder-polyshere showed lots of info for polys, and on lots of forums. The march 2015 streetrodder mag. had 2 pages of info about them and some avail. speed parts in the shop manual section of the mag.. Some were from Australia! Maybe you can see this info online. Love to see the engine decked out and shiny in a stocker! Best of luck, DJ
  6. Very interesting Maybe your previous information was correct? If so, can he put in the tank that removes old chrome, rust etc. and polish or re-plate with chrome? I had never heard of chroming stainless trim until I saw a 60's Pontiac with all the stainless trim chromed. So it is possible.
  7. the two I've dealt with were both solid stainless (no chrome) with plain old mild steel mounts spot welded to the stainless. In other words they do Not come apart. At least easily. If you were to take it apart by removing the spot welds, how wold you put it back together? A good chrome shop can however sand if needed to get very close and buff to look almost as nice as chrome. Not cheap in this area but the same prep would also be required for chrome work. Keep up your fine work, I want to see the completed Suburban. I dream that I can somehow finish my project 49/50 Suburban! DJ
  8. Be aware of pflaming! (Patina Vader) He is trying to get you to join him on the Dark Side of Patina paint! DJ
  9. Assuming the water temp. gauge in the head they are NPT (national pipe tread) avail. at any auto part or hardware store for a replacement Plug only. Take the broken part to match the size. DJ
  10. Some head casting #'s with motor size and years get some info but not all you are looking for attached: DJ
  11. Jeff, no Big ideas for you, but would not be a complete rear end of the the same donor truck be cheaper than a rebuild of your rear gears to try say a 3.7 or 3.9 ratio even if you have to cut/replace the spring mounts/.etc.? Love my R-10 Mopar OD in my 50 4 dr.! Too much changes for you, but my rebuilt 230 flattie w/ 3.9 rear gears runs great in town and freeways speeds, accelerates great for an old car. No disc brakes but sure could use them! Should not weight less than your truck? 4 sp. w/ OD with at least 2-5 syncho'ed -with the right ratio rear gears.. I think you would love!?? Run 4th. or 3rd. up hills! Best, DJ
  12. Almost sounds like the the crankshaft gear was installed with the bevel forward rather than toward the rear??. Something seems to be off, but what? DJ
  13. Check out this co. Make the mounts ect. for your changeover/ plus info on same. http://www.butchscoolstuff.com/ and this for P.S. changeovers http://www.fatmanfabrications.co/ DJ
  14. Another broke down GM product it appears. Run into the ground for sure!
  15. Future "barn finds" ! Someone will pay too much for.
  16. Looks great to me! Nice work! DJ
  17. PP, Glad to to see you do have an assortment of body tools. Several of the pics made me think you used a shotgun as a shrinking tool--or did you?? Did you know that Harbor Freight sells a small set of various body hammers and body working dollies for $20-30, handles included.?? Does a I pad play U-tube body straightening videos? May save some hours or days. Have fun, DJ
  18. Just trying to kid you a bit, but after spending big $$ for repair and then having problems, I do understand! Marty if you would like to discuss troubleshooting the OD system I have rebuilt 2 Mopar OD' s and wired mine to operate different from stock but to figure that out I first needed to learn the stock setup. I have a spare 6V. and 12 V. OD solenoids if needed to test? PM me to talk and maybe bring the car to my place to do the troubleshooting? Love my OD in the 50 Ply. 4 dr. I have and after having it I understand the loss when it does not work! DJ
  19. Well Marty the last 2 days the temps went up to almost 70 degrees in central Ca. in the afternoons. Kind of hard to use temp. as your reason, but other considerations are always present! Wifes etc! DJ
  20. NICE! DJ.
  21. I thinking would be take a pick type body hammer any and All suspect rust areas of both deck lids to really know had needs to be done. Maybe the best half of both? Patching the over lapping rusted. areas. For the best outer panel replacement, the inner reinforcement panel may need to be cut out and replaced after exterior panels are repaired. Again using the better condition parts! Not for a beginner but you have shown with previous repairs that you are capable! My last major project- believe me I did not really want to do it but was needed! Weeks of study and self talk it got repaired. Whole rear quarter panel and many trunk panel replaced. See Attached. DJ
  22. Don't think PP would work out as they appear to be looking for people to get rid of Patina!
  23. Example of using aftermarket wiring- 12 volt though.
  24. ROADKING- Could you measure the diameter and length of each spring variation? Outside Dia. appears to be the same with length and wire size variation? My semi rebuilt ( all new bearings) motor drops oil pressure cold (48Lb.) to hot (8lb.--10lb.) which repair manual says is OK but with newer multi-viscosity motors should help with this drop. My relief spring was from a different motor as mine had none when purchased. Considering a new NOS spring purchase to give a try. Thanks, DJ
