  1. Are those NGK's made in the USA?
  2. Perhaps he forgot to tighten the steer wheel nut. We all have been guilty of the loose nut!
  3. Truth be told- We NEED several (at least) Cold-WET winters to keep this state functional and prosperous! We need our farmers as much--correction-- MORE than our computer geeks! Hope a pipe line from Alaska will be built to transport water-Not Oil! DJ
  4. Had the same problem with missing/wasted grommets. Went to the hardware store with the measurements for the bigger hole and dia. of the headliner bows and found some very close in their grommet draws. Asked my headliner upholster if they were ok and his reply was no problems! So happy hunting. DJ
  5. Thanks for the post.!! That way way most Ca. residents can get the experience of very cold etc. without actually being in it!
  6. I agree with checking the fuse! My OD regularly blew fuses until I replaced the 6v. solenoid with a 12 v. later model solenoid- I changed all of my 50 Ply. 4 dr. to 12v. Others said the 6 v. solenoid works on 12 v. system-not for me! I believe you are still 6v. system? Them maybe a cleanup of the solenoid itself will help. Or replacement if fuses still blow? See Resources on the top line of this forum then-downloads-manuals for a 3 page how to on cleaning parts inside. BW R-10 solenoid rebuild. Best of luck- DJ
  7. maybe some Chrysler tips will help ? http://www.imperialclub.com/Repair/Lit/Master/025/CoverBig.jpg Seems I only attached the l;ink but if you you go to their site and look for the link it has factory door alignment tips.
  8. If his 52 Dodge is wired like a Plymouth P17-P20, the choke solenoid is wired directly to the Heavy Cable from the start solenoid at the starter. (see your repair manual to check). So anytime the starter is cranked over there is power to the choke. The wire Could be disconnected at the choke for jump starting on 12V is wanting to to very safe and the choke operated manually But-- I have been using my P-20 on 12v for close to 3 years with 6 v. starter and 6v. choke on 12 v. with no problems. The only thing I did was to use 12 gauge wire from the starter to choke connection as it seemed to draw a lot of amps for the choke. I often have to crank it over a fair amount to get fuel up after sitting for a while, so the choke is also engaged during that extended cranking time. No problems so far and neither the wire nor the choke solenoid seem to get hot. Best, DJ.
  9. How checking the crankshaft casting number to ID it. Try to post some info for you to compare to. Wonder if Chrysler ever made a reverse rotation motor as most were only needed for boat use with two (inboard only)? engines. Most manufacturer just used a reverse rotation gearbox behind one of these motors as it was considerably cheaper to produce as compared to building a low production reverse motor?

  11. More time spent now Bored-the nicer the paint will come out in the----end! Only problem I see with your job is unlike the TV shows there is not 7-8 people sanding front to back at the same time-done in a hour or less! Hope you are not planning on a black paint job with all the big straight panels? Looking great! DJ
  12. Nice work!
  13. Heck I kind of like the "look", with the exception of the industrial looking door handles! Paul likes something with paint! Hey it's a start!
  14. Love the whole look! Very close (no chop) to my future? to be finished wagon. More pics if you paint it? Thanks DJ
  15. None of the models have the correct original type rear bumper and splash pan with the "lower stepped" area in the center to mount the license plate and light. I do like all the models overall though! DJ
  16. Making room in Ca. for new over the border settlers? Rooms for rent in the new location? Do Not bring any CATS!
  17. Installing more Flammables to the inside I see! Maybe time to install a "old time" fire sprinkler and alarm system?
  18. Many years in the past my family and two others went to Death Valley but always did so over Easter week when it was still cool enough to enjoy! Drive it, watch the temp. gauge less and enjoy the fruits of your work! DJ
  19. The top of piston #1 appears to me me to be a case of a newbe mechanic using a very stiff power wire wheel to clean off the carbon build up and made the grooves in the piston top by using using too much pressure. Maybe someone stopped him from doing repeats on #2-#6 piston. Did Almost that bad as a 16 yr. old and that is what gave me that memory. Bought a good running engine that had set for about 3 months and installed it in a car. Ran fine for about 6 months- quiet and strong. Parked car for about 3 months after I bought a newer car and decided the motor and trans would be cheap setup for my new/very old/worn out 37 Ply, bus. cpe. Right after the first first drive with the motor it had a knock! Turned out one of the rod upper bushings froze to the piston pin and was rotating in the upper rod end. It was Not working good that way and wore out very quickly= the new knock. 2 steps forward and one big one back? Hope not! Best of luck! DJ
  20. while I,m all for he Pertronix update when appriopriate , Start by filing the points and setting the point gap.( 0.016- 019), clean the cap and rotor contact points and try again. My thoughts, good luck, enjoy the project!
  21. Where is the cat bed?
  22. Visible spring as shown towards the oil (inside).
  23. Next item is much more trivial. I need to find some sort of buzzer to remind me when the turn signal is on. (Quoted.) 12v. audible turn signal indicators seem to readily available but 6 v. not so much but a quick search came up with this expensive option. I'd spend some time looking for audible or a light as ED suggested. Your choice, but I do understand the need! Chevrolet of the 40,s website showed a 6 v. flasher with an audible signal built in but not real cheap. Tried to attach page but did not work. Just one option. DJ
  24. ARP brand of strictly hi-perf. bolts uses cold rolled threads on their Mostly(?) automotive bolts. They also use American made steel to higher than most specs. They used to have a very detailed story of their why and how on their website. Does an old mopar flattie require this level of hi tech bolts? I think not! Have read many stories about how they make them and why they use the processes they do. Other uses of threads vary so much as to use psi requirements/ stretch, etc I cannot begin to comment. Average use bolts available today at most local suppliers is a big unknown. Just saying.
