  1. Is this the one that was cleaned on the undersides last year at your friends shop or was that the other one? Best of luck with that motor! DJ
  2. Just Joe wishing about having a 49 woody as his new project! It was on the top of his mind.?
  3. The only cheap way to add r&p steering with a solid front axle on springs is to mount the rack to the axle which is not hard to do if you can fab the mounting system. You must have a slip joint in the shaft connection to the steer column. I've seen it done on a 33 Ply. axle using an used collapsible shaft from a 70's-80's vechicle. A newer way to do this is using a specialty built power r&p that hooks to a bracket on driver side of frame doesn't move at that end but is long enough to reach the pass. side steer arm that also has a steer rod to the driver side that ties both sides to one another. The co. that makes them have an online catalog at unisteer.com They do make custom widths And other r&p systems for a more traditional Racks and does front & rear steer type racks to your specs. Not the cheapest way but well done and the sell Slip joint type steering shafts and most likely can be made to custom lengths also. Maybe at least a call to discuss with them your plans?? Just thought I'd throw that info out there. They also make systems for 70-80's Mopars complete with mounts to add r&p steer to older cars. DJ
  4. Free shipping must also be taken into account!

  7. http://static.summitracing.com/global/images/prod/xlarge/VPE-13030_QV_xl.jpg Summit racing has 90 degree mandrel(smooth) bent pipe in various sizes bend radius and plain steel, aluminized steel and stainless $6.00 to $35.00. Up to you whether you want to go that direction. Maybe I shouldn't use the Cool face at this time of year! DJ
  8. Gotta love that dash work with the contrasting color that shows off the gauges and chrome. Your hard work and determination to build a very nice truck shows! DJ
  9. What will do to the bumper once you strip the chrome off? Chrome shops strip off all the chrome and nickel plating and rust before starting a restoration of part to be re chromed in a rust and plating removal tank. The chrome is recycled as it's expensive also disposal of chromium filled fluids are even more so. Check with one about just a cost of the removal if that's OK with you, might be very reasonable for just that step? Just a thought. DJ

  12. How do you measure the 1/4" measurement? A straight edge across the tire top to bottom? What about the tire Squat? Pic. in my repair manual shows a gauge attached to the wheel at the beads with a degree measure attached. How about a piece of flat metal that reached across the inner beads of the wheels and buy a cheap degree measuring tool at harbor freight or any hardware store to put against the steel straight edge? DJ
  13. Did you use the dryer sheets that advertise the Long lasting scent so it will smell fresh out of the dryer come spring? DJ
  14. Suggest when a search for this is done to use All forum search as Pertronix Q&A are on several different forums. DJ
  15. Tim will most likely have a sunrise service around the fire pit Sunday morning if it is! DJ
  16. If you can get the car raised up ( a car lift is preferable) and look for rust underneath. Lift floor covering to check rust also. This can get to big $$ quickly. Especially if you can't do repairs yourself.. Looks great from the pics, but check with someone who knows cars for overall condition. If good I totally agree with others--buy it! DJ
  17. Ca. is not like most of the USA. Deposits-recycle everything. Nothings cheap but it is avail. at the recyclers for a price! DJ
  18. Love the work as always! Wonder if the larger flat panel will make any popping noises as the exhaust heats them? Maybe roll a couple of beads in them if a roller is avail? See customs/rods all the time with the large flat panels, but do they drive em?? DJ

  22. Grey coloring in oil usually indicates water. Is oil a thicker consistency? It will get that way with water and oil level will rise. Radiator will get lower. Check the smell as recommended by Jeff. Gas will have a heavy smell of it. Water in oil will not. Just overfilling will not change color. DJ
  23. With the size of that trunk it could be easily made into a family comfortable truck. Add rear overload springs. Just remove the trunk lid, lower the back panel, install a truck bed. Done! DJ
  24. #one always in front on all motors I have ever seen including Mopars. #1 and #6 in flat 6's are both at their top of stroke one on tdc ignition and other tdc exhaust. Remember 2 complete rotations per cycle-. DJ
