  1. John is spot on, look at that cat's left eye, I'm thinking he is up to no good!!
  2. When I rebuilt my truck engine, I used a high powered steam cleaner, removed the freeze plugs and spent two hrs on that block. Then I tried to pull the tube, I tried all kinds of ways to no avail, so a perfect novice, I made a long slender spear and worked that all the way in, then I made a puller with a sharp strong end and found all the bottom openings, cleaned them and tried to pull it out. No success. Then I looked down that tube with a very bright flashlight and saw all was nice and clean. So frustrated and tired I made certain the tubes' open end was like a funnel so the water had to flow through it, put the water pump back on and now have driven it for five years and it never runs hot, temp usually at 160. The tube on my '53 suburban came out nice and easy and was in quite good shape, I put in a new tube anyway.
  3. Tim came to my shop with a truck and trailer and hauled my fire damaged truck to his place to have it at the BBQ. He invited my wife and grandkids for Friday night in his home an the BBQ. The kids still talk about that week end. TKS Tim!
  4. I just tested how my B3B , '52 trucks stops with discs up front and 97 Cherokee drums in rear. Tires are 235 / 75R - 15 rear and 225 - 70 R. - 15 in the front. Whatever: at three speeds 30, 45, & 55 mph the tires did not break away, and it stooped in a straight line each hard stop. I'm going to check the level of my brake fluid, and test again. I do know that the rear will not come around. My bed was empty. My rear shocks are fire damaged so will replace them. Edited: I corrected the tire pressure and redid the test. Same results, straight stops each time.
  5. Do you have any of the ones allegedly tampered with during the Tylenol event? LOL on a serious note, yes there were/are many small bottlers across the country, I would guess that was to reduce their freight costs. Also, Pepsi was about to go under and as a last ditch effort started the liter bottle, container less expensive than glass and volume sales, obviously it was successful. TKS for the information.
  6. No picture taken on mountain view Ave west of Dinuba, Ca. Pre shop fire time.
  7. Elephant knew Peter was a card carrying NRA member?
  8. Yes, on Saturday afternoon. It's only a 2.5 hour drive from Clements, so can easily get there before dark. Afternoon is a good time to photograph. Will keep you informed, maybe we can get a convoy going, be fun to drive in there with a bunch of old cars and trucks.
  9. Once a year, I put my truck on a hoist and do a thorough safety check up. Will do that before I head up to the BBQ. This year I will return home to Fresno area via Yosemite National Park. I need some pictures of the truck from there, will likely stay one night in the park. Join me!
  10. 79 and chasing 80 doesn't help any. Right wrist carpal tunnel and right shoulder went viral on me Tuesday. Neurologist scheduled for next week. Got to quit this hobby.
  11. The long single horn mount has four thin spring steel mount pieces and rubber spacers. Two of my spring steel pieces are broken. Is this mount designed as an anti-viabration mount to protect the horn? I wonder what I can fab new mounts out of? Ideas invited.
  12. So I take it that coke bottles are somewhat different in some regions? Question, do they resemble beer cans in Wisconsin and wine bottles in Napa Valley, CA? D.C. Bottles then must have two faces! LOL
  13. Only one question: will we see this truck at Tims BBQ? That's the place where real trucks (eagles) gather and get authenticated. APRIL 14!
  14. Merle, like this one?
  15. Hey, I liked your humor and Don's. No problem here, yet I do have a problem with cats!
  16. Show us your cup holders! I need one so ideas are welcomed.
  17. As a precautionary exercise, because of this thread, I'm going to do hard stop tests with my truck so I know how it reacts and fine tune any descrepencies. I now drive it very often and need to know. Edit, and yes I too need better seat belts and a coffee cup holder.
  18. So what else interests you. I sometimes like birdhouses.
  19. Camper shell: it started out that way, but current needs and lack of time won out. I've got all the tubing to make a frame for a canvas fishing trip sleeper. Would do a double canvas exterior with insulation sandwiched between.
  20. AMAZING, SIMPLY AMAZING. This forum and the stories in it are so interesting.
  21. HOWEVER, keep the old patina and all hell breaks loose, except for the man on the street who grew up with an old truck and sees an authentic rebuild: flathead six, standard transmission, cracked window, taped upholstery, and he will say, "WOW, I learned how to drive in a truck like THIS, COOL.
  22. Thanks 48. If you look closely you will see two ropes (red) across the cover. I liked that because if an inside object extends too high I just raise the lid and tie down the lid with the ropes. It's interesting that some people comment on such a simple solution. Another advantage of keeping on old truck an old truck. It also allows me to use the side hooks
  23. "I've got my bag, I've got my reservation, got each ________ I could afford, . . . . . " Cant recall the rest of the lyrics!! STML
