  1. I found this photo in a local magazine today. 80's rock group from northern california called "Camper Van Beethoven". Someone will find this truck behind a barn some day:)
  2. I'm working on making notes and lists in preperation on pulling my trans. and having it rebuilt. Its grinding bad in first gear and leaks pretty bad I have a fluid-drive 3spd. I know I have to pull my gas tank and cross member before I pull the tranny. Gaskets needed: 21-29-25 (2X) 21-09-33 (2X) 21-33-17 Oil seal 21-22-2 Im going to create a gasket for between the front of the trans and bell house. Any input or something I'm missing?
  3. I was inspired by the upcoming holiday and knowing that its going to rain this weekend, I decided to get off early and finish putting my dash back together. B1Bkeven fixed up my speedo and gauges for me and they look great. Thanks again Keven. I also decided to finally wire up my 802 I bought from Reg a year or so ago. Now I'm ready for baseball season on the radio. Go Giants! I wish you and yours a very merry WOYCTD!
  4. Its the long spring that attaches from the throttle linkage to the little hole in the floor....I guess its called the throttle return spring.
  5. Can anyone help me find a new accelerator return spring. Mine broke and I tried to replace it with little success. Any help would be appreciate thanks
  6. Mine is a work'n truck too. I used a piece of marine grade plywood. I had to buy new skid strips because all of the old ones were rotted away. It looks pretty good and I'm not afraid of scratching it up
  7. Snap! That jiffy jet washer is sweet! It looks like the jar I keep my pickels in!
  8. I have a gray speedo in my truck which isn't the correct one for the year. I would be willing to trade it for a working black one.
  9. Try searching "rear diff swap" in the forum. There are a lot of good threads on this subject You are looking for late 40's early 50's dodge, chrysler, desoto, plymouth cars. The differential ratio is stamped on the bottom of the pumpkin. Not all the carriers are the same size and not all carriers have the same bolt pattern/number. You may have a 11 bolt battern or 10 on your truck. There are two different spline counts out there too. You are going to have to pull the axle shafts out of any car before you can pull the differential. You may want to buy the axle shafts too so you have the right spline number (if there the right length), unless you want to disassemble your rear axle first to know your spline count These are some of the question/problems I ran into and I'm still looking for one. good luck
  10. If I am remembering correctly, the small one goes at the very end of the frame and is attached to the box, but doesn't get bolted completely through to the frame. I also think that on all the braces, the c-channel faces towards the back. Does that make sense? Maybe someone will have some pictures for you. Good luck.
  11. I used a similar product called "Useal". A peal and seal with aluminum backing. I just finished doing the fire wall, floor, back wall and ceiling. Works good, easy to cut with scissors...$16 (6"X24') I may go back with a blow dryer and roller and hit some spots. I'm also going to put bubblewrap insulation on the fire wall, roof and back.
  12. Hank Looks great. Just keep it at 1.21 Jigawatts when firing it up!
  13. Hank You want to swap fenders? Then you wouldn't have to worry about cutting a hole.
  14. I did the JC Whitney modify and it works great. Put a good ground on it and grounded it to the floor of my cab
  15. Paul Hopefully your taking lots of pictures of your insulating and interior. Looking forward to seeing what you've done and how you did it. I would like to do the same to mine this summer. Tom
  16. I went the same route as pflaming. I mounted the wood and all skid strips with the bed off the truck. I wished I had help getting the bed back on, it was a bear. It would be difficult to drill the mounting holes with the bed on. It can be a pain to get all of the skid strip bolts lined-up with all the mounting holes. I can't amagine trying to do it on my back. I guess you can put it together off the truck, get three buddies to help you mount it, measure, take it off, drill and then mount it again. hopefully someone else has an easier way.
  17. I'm looking to replace my glovebox. The glovebox was gone when I bought the truck. I've seen several different ones for sale on ebay. Has anyone bought these or maybe from Robert's, ect? Does anyone have thoughts or experiences in installing one, proper hardware needed and which ones fit well? thanks tom
  18. Thanks for the help Paul. Now I'll have to get to work on it. I'll post some before and after pics:)
  19. When I have my driving lights on . My driver's side brake light dims when I use the brakes. The right hand one brightens while the left hand dims. What's going on?
  20. I bought new wiper blades, which seem to match up great with the old ones, but there isn't enough arm tension to keep them tight on the windshield Any suggestions?
  21. I got the bed back together. I did it on the semi-cheap. I used a piece of marine grade plywood and three coats of marine laquer. I had to buy all new strips and angles. The strips are unpolished stainless and the angle strips are painted steal. Its definately not a car show job and it looks a little bit like lipstick on a pig, but did it for function.
  22. Hi I've been working on rewiring my truck and realized that two of the terminals on my headlight switch are broken off. Does anyone have one for sale or has anyone purchased a switch from a parts store that matches the original? (Robert's, Bernbaum, VPW, ect.) It's hard to tell from their website photos and I would like to have my knobs original looking. thanks for your help Tom
  23. looks like it would be a good road trip.
  24. You see in the hot rod and classic truck magazines the bare metal look, I was wondering how they do it effectively. I have heard that it can be done by: 1. Spraying the metal down every so often with WD40 (doesn't seem very effective) 2. Using a clear version of POR15 or permalac 3. Powder coating in clear (seems expensive) Does anyone have any better ideas?
  25. Bummer! Thanks for the help
