  1. So I ended up rebuilding the carb. and put it back together today and it runs great. No more hesitation. I think though that the accelerator pump gets a little stuck. It idles a little high and if I tap on the accelerator lightly the idle will go down. Not sure how to fix that yet. Had a great cruise around Santa Cruz though.
  2. Young Ed If you find that part number, it would be a big help. I pulled the plunger this evening and it looks pretty worn. If I can successfully reassemble this carb, I will check the points again and cross my fingers thanks again
  3. Great! I will check that out. Thanks for the help
  4. Hi Everyone I'm hoping to get some help with my hesitation problem. Everytime I eccelerate it hesitates to the point of stalling unless I nurse the accelerator slowly. Where do I start in diagnosing this problem? I changed the fuel filter. It has new points, condenser, cables, plugs and coil. I thought about adjusting the float, but I haven't found a thread on how to do that. Any help to put me on track would be appreciated Tom
  5. I'm having the same problem. It sounds like nails on a chalkboard everytime I push the clutch in. I was thinking about buying a couple of draft covers from Robert's. Do you think that will help?
  6. mine is pitted bad and the gas pedal hinge is from a cabinet door but it works for now. I didn't know they were so rare. I'm thinking about having a pan fabricated. I guess my next question would be if hinges are available and where is it supposed to be mounted. The one I have now is rivited to the trans plate by a previous owner
  7. Hi everyone I'm looking for a transmission cover plate for a 1950 3speed on the column. The rest of my floor looks pretty good, but the trans plate looks like swiss cheese. I got rid of the family of rats living in the cab, now I need to fill the holes. thanks tom
  8. Merle They look like they will do the trick. I will send you an email with my info. The guy I bought the truck from, drove the truck with the breaks stuck and they seized-up. The guy had an extra set of right/left rear hubs and axles. I got over zealous and trashed the threads while trying to get the hubs off. I had no luck with getting the hubs off. I finally resorted in cutting the hubs up to get to the backing plate. Oh well, I thought, at least I have an extra set of hubs and axles. The extra axles ended up being 10 spline instead of sixteen. Hence my dilemma. With a lot of work, I might be able to use the old ones, but I would rather have a pair that are in good shape. Its not the first mistake or the last mistake I'll pay for I'm sure. Knowing that a child with a brain tumer may benifit makes it less painful. Tom
  9. the axle shafts that I pulled out are roughly 32 3/4"
  10. Here is a question. The truck is a 1950 B2B. The axle shafts that I pulled have a 16 spline count. The Don Bunn book states that they changed the spline count from 10 to 16 in 1952. Does that mean that I have a later model axle under my truck? I had assumed that I had the origanal 108", now I'm not so sure.
  11. thanks Merle. let me know what you find. tom
  12. Hi everyone I'm in the need of two rear axle shafts with the 16 spline pattern. If anyone has an extra set or knows where I can get them, I would appreciate it. Thank you Tom
  13. Reg No problem, thanks for looking for me tom
  14. I saw this truck in Santa Cruz, CA. Don't know anything about it, only what you see in the picture. I figure if there is anyone in the bay area looking for a pilot house, this would be a good project. Here is the phone number: 601-842-4360
  15. Hi Reg I'm looking for three wheels that will fit my B2B that will take the small moon hubcaps. I live just over the hill in Santa Cruz. Thanks Tom
  16. I got the old girl running today. I figured out that I didn't have the points gapped correctly. I fixed that, she fired up immediately and she purrs like a kitten. Now all it needs are breaks. I got a dry master cylinder. Put fluid in and tried bleeding but got nothing. I think my MC is shot. I will start pulling it out tomorrow. Thanks for everyones help so far. Tom
  17. couple more photos for fun
  18. I found your "electrical system check list" thread. I will use it to go over everything and hopefully find the issue thanks
  19. I live in Scotts Valley CA which is near Santa Cruz. thanks for the help John. I will keep plugging away at it. Looking forward to some dry days ahead to get out there and work on it
  20. Hello everyone. I just bought a 1950 B2B last week. It will be a big project for me and I'm excited to find this forum. I'm already coming to the limit of my automotive knowledge. The engine turns over, but I don't seem to get any spark. I put new plugs, plug wires, cap, rotor, condenser, points, and coil in it today. I pulled one of the plugs and layed it ontop of the head to see if I could get a spark...nothing. What should be my next step? I also see that there is fuel leaking from the bottom of the carb..should I buy a rebuild get? Thank you for the help. Can't wait to get it on the road again! Tom
  21. Hi I just bought a 1950 Dodge B2B from a guy in Aptos/Santa Cruz CA. These two rear wheel sets came with the truck. The seller (Barry Bryan) said that he recieved them from a member of this forum. I was hoping someone would recognize them and give me any info they have. thanks Tom
