  1. Does anyone know if a 3 speed transmission from a regular clutch assembly is a direct swap into a 3 speed fluid-drive assembly?
  2. I pulled the box off my truck and I'm working on replacing the wood, angle strips, ect.. I remove the old angle strips today and found that underneath it was heavily pitted with rust and I have a few pin holes. I'm not a welder. I'm going to have someone spot weld the angle strips on for me. What should I do to prep this area before I have the strips welded on? I was planning on taking it down to bare metal (from the top of the angle strip all the way down to the bottom of the bed side) and hitting it with a couple of coats of rustoleum. I seems like the gap behind those angle strips is a good place for rust. Thanks for the help
  3. I talked to the guy once, before he had it for sale. He has had the truck in his family since new and has a picture of himself as a kid standing on the running board. I think the price might be a reflection of its sentimental value. For what its really worth, I would just hold onto it. Anywho, its amazing how much the idea of how much these trucks are worth vary.
  4. Thought I would post this truck on craigslist....cheap! http://sfbay.craigslist.org/scz/cto/2504832714.html
  5. Sorry, I assumed you had a 6 volt system.
  6. I got a JC Whitney one and did the minor adjustments to make it work and put a ground wire on it. It was cheaper and works fine. There is a thread that shows how to do the swap.
  7. The face of my speedometer is blue and the rest of my gauges are black. What is the correct color for 1950 and when did they change it to blue?
  8. I bought a low pressure brake switch from Ron Francis' wiring (www.ronfrancis.com). It seems to have fixed what ever problem I had. I went through two switches before I put this one in.
  9. I got some fine files today. I will get some grittier paper and get to work thanks
  10. Great info.! And easy to follow. Can't wait to try it out. thanks Brad. tom
  11. I want to adjust my timing using a vacuum gauge. I have an electric wiper motor. Where do I attach the vacuum gauge? What vacuum numbers should I be looking to achieve? thanks guys
  12. I've been trying to polish out the scratches in my stainless grill bars. I started out using 220 grit wet sand with no success and went down to 180 grit. It seems the scratches are too deep for wet sanding and it seems like using a file would be to much. Is there any middle of the road application I could use? Emory paper or something? I would then sand it out to a 1500 grit. thanks for any help or insight.
  13. I pulled t!he motor and reversed the shaft and that did the trick. thanks for the help
  14. I was able to get my windshield wipers to run this weekend. But I'm confused on the direction the wipers are to run. I assume the right and left run opposed to each other, while mine run the same way which leaves the right wiper in the middle of the windshield when turned off. I can't figure it out. Either its an easy fix or I have the wrong motor. The picture is what my setup looks like
  15. Does anyone know what the part number is for the JC Whitney 6 volt fuel sending unit? I've searched the previous threads and found these numbers: 199437 128525 100437P none of them worked for me. Wondering if someone has a more recent P/N thnks
  16. There is a great looking pilot house panel for sale in the bay area $800 http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/2296445007.html
  17. could use a couple of the wheels
  18. Can't make it to the BBQ. Its on my wife's birtday and there is no chance she's going to want to go.
  19. Reg. Sounds good. I'll PM you and get your address and phone number.
  20. Reg You have a good looking rack:) Looks like I need to schedule a trip up to grass valley. How much you want for it?
  21. I'm thinking about welding together a ladder rack for my B2B and was wondering if anyone had photos of one from the 50's. I would like to get it to look close to what someone would have back then. If anyone in the bay area has one to sell, that would be cool too.
  22. I need to replace my front brake shoes. I went to Napa today with no success. I was told that they no longer carry them, but I'm a little skeptical about the ability of the kid behind the counter. Has anyone been able to get them from Napa and have a part number? If not, I guess I can get them from Robert's As a side note. I guess it would be smart to save every piece that comes off this truck from now on, including the old brake shoes and cylinders. Things are just going to get harder and harder to find and everything will have to be rebuilt and resleeved instead of replaced.
  23. I noticed today that I have two brake leaks at the wheels. I pulled the front hub off and found that my cylinder is leaking. It looks fairly new. I also have a leak on one of my back wheels. I haven't pulled the hub yet but I'm suspecting that it is the cylinder and I just replace it last year. When I redid the brakes and lines last year, I used Dot5. Was that a mistake? What should I use instead? What should I do? thanks Tom
