  1. I bought a rear differential out of a 47 plymouth with a 3;90 diff. It doesn't have a fill plug in the pumpkin. You would have make a fill plug hole in it to make it work in your tuck or swap the intire axle. It takes a ten spline shaft, where as my 1950 b2b has a 16 spline shaft. I tried to do the exact same swap a week ago. Just make sure you have something that will fit before you tear everything apart.
  2. If you are just replacing the pumpkin: The axle shaft spline count is different. It has a 10 count and you have 16. The fill plug for the plymouth is on the axle while yours is on the pumpkin, so there is no way to put fluid in it. The pinion length might be different too. Make sure the bolt pattern is the same (you should have an 11 bolt set-up). Lots of things to look at.
  3. Disassembled my 3-speed transmission. One of the pins on the syncro assembly broke off and I have a few chewed up teeth on my cluster gear. I guessing that's what was causing all the noise in first gear. Everything else looks pretty good. 1st gear (low-reverse) is a little pitted, but doesn't look to bad. I'm wondering how much wear on these gears are acceptable...these gears are hard to find and expensive to replace. I would like to re-use as much as possible. Sorry the pictures kind of suck.
  4. I have a 3-speed fluid drive that crapped-out. I'm thinking about swapping it out. P15-D24 says that you can change the input shaft on a standard three speed to make it adaptable to fluid drive. Could I do that with a standard four speed as well? I wouldn't mind going from a column to a floor shifter if need be.
  5. o.k. how about this one.....
  6. tanish with a little rust
  7. you asked for it.....now you want one
  8. I thought I would post this link in the hope that someone might snatch-up this beauty. 48dodger...your could pull your truck to the salt flats with it or maybe shuttle people to and from the lawnmower races http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/3072837479.html
  9. Make sure you eat a couple of lobster roles and a whoopie-pie or two
  10. I would give you this bumper if you lived closer
  11. I going to do a rebuild. This engine was not what I expected it to be, but I will chalk it up as a learning experience. Its something that I've always wanted to learn how to do and now I have this engine it will be the perfect opportunity. I will document my progress as I go and hopefully I will get some feedback and help as I go. thanks tom
  12. try searching the forum for "double clutching" and then its just practice
  13. I bought this engine today that I found on craigslist. I got it on a stand and got it home. Not much info on it. The previous owner bought it as is and was told that it had been rebuilt and was ready to run. I popped the head off and it doesn't look too clean. My plan was to transfer the parts off of my old one and swap it into my truck....now I'm not so sure. I wonder if I now have two engines that need to be rebuilt
  14. Good question. I think I got it off a google picture search
  15. I think that this truck looks pretty tough
  16. I got this response from the seller: "I bought this engine from a person in Novato. I bought it because I had sent the engine out of my 1947 Plymouth Coupe to get rebuilt. I didn’t hear from the guy in such a long time, I figured I would use this one. Well they guy finally called and said my engine is done so I don’t need this one anymore." so, I'm guessing that the seller doesn't know how the engine runs. Looks like I'll be rolling the dice on this one
  17. I was thinking about buying this engine, but I don't know what to look for or ask the seller. Was wondering if you guys can share your wisdom so I don't buy a lemon. thanks tom http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/pts/2999664806.html
  18. Any ideas on where I can buy transmission gasket and bearing kits?
  19. Tony's set-up looks like mine. I don't think I can stretch the spring far enough to set it up to the front of the linkage
  20. Ah Keven. I know what you mean. I used to have that problem too. With this new spring I don't have the problem anymore. I will try mounting the spring to the forward part of the throttle arm to get even more tension.
  21. Tim Unfortunately, its my wife's birthday. There is no way in hell she will go to a truck bbq, no matter how good your burgers are:D One of these years I will sneak away. Take lots of pictures Tom
  22. Keven Explain blip to idle for me
  23. Just wanted to upddate this thread. Thanks to Desotodav and HanksB3B, I got me a shiny new throttle return spring. I decided to use the codder-pin set-up because I didn't want to bend up my new spring fitting it into the hole in the floorboard. Works great.
  24. A big ditto. Keven did a great job on my gauges too. By the way, Paul, its fun to put a face to a name and voice
  25. I found a hunk of wood, a carriage bolt and some rocks in my tank. All of which were worn down smooth, so they were probably sloshing around in that tank for decades. Damn kids!.....well I guess they would be old farts now:D
