  2. For a thread that may provide some interesting reading - check out, "flathead to slant 6 distributor conversion",posted by forum member,"thrashingcows",posted on Dec 16 ,2011.
  3. Easy decision - "Resale Red" ... But don't waste time on those wheels.
  4. I scanned this page showing a drawing of the master cylinder (1937 chrysler Manual). The ports mentioned that must be clear, 1 and 3 are shown in the drawing.Your pedal free play should be 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch before meeting any resistance.
  5. I hesitate to mention the obvious but if an incompatible fluid is added to a brake system it may cause a problem similar to what you are experiencing...
  6. Interesting the distance your brake pedal travels to fully engage the brakes becomes less after driving for a while. What type of brake fluid are you using - any chance it may be contaminated?
  7. I'm out...of order with this photo. This is a photo of our local war memorial. If you look closely, you will see a 1937 Chrysler through the bushes.
  8. Seasonal harvest photo with your car next....
  9. Robert,You certainly did a first class job restoring the 1938 Chrysler..Now you just have to avoid the temptation to fill the empty space in your garage.
  10. Thank you all for the "thumbs up" on the Desoto...I was happy to spot the ad when the car was offered for sale and be in a position to buy it.The car was one of limited number of this model built in Windsor,Ontario. It has been well looked after by previous owners. The Desoto was bought in Saskatchewan in the mid seventies and moved to British Columbia where over the next thirty plus years it underwent a body off frame restoration and was completed several years ago. The powertrain is original to the car. As with any car of this age there is always something left to do for the next owner. The car only required minimal work to pass the out of province inspection and is now licensed and on the road here in Alberta.
  11. ...then I reconsidered and bought another car.
  12. The flat deck area of my trailer is 16 feet plus another 2 feet for the dovetail, (18'), with 82 inches between wheel wells. The axles are rated at 4950 lbs each and the trailer at 9900 lbs. It has electric brakes on all wheels. It was manufactured by Rainbow Trailers in Cartwright, Manitoba. As Tim mentioned you will find the trailer comes in handy for all sorts of jobs, not for just hauling cars and parts.
  13. I bought my trailer used about 8 years ago. The price was $2600. I also had a suitable tow vehicle at the time. This photo was taken a few years back in Idaho. I bought the trailer to haul cars, but It has proved useful for hauling a variety of items including construction materials.
  14. I, for one, wouldn't argue with a man who sported a tattoo of an anchor from an early age..
  15. It has been a long while since I applied primer to aluminum..I used zinc chromate primer,(follow the directions for use).
  16. A remote starter button can be a useful tool as well.
  17. Depending on your situation, I like the suggestion suntennis offered. Prior to buying my trailer, I used all the alternative methods mentioned transporting vehicles. I wouldn't part with my open trailer. I've used it for hauling vehicles in all weather from southern California to Alberta and all over western Canada. (not to show and shines)..I've hauled vintage cars, trucks, motorcycles as well as landscaping equipment and had a lot of enjoyable road trips...
  18. Thanks for the pictures...One I particularly like is the DeSoto Airflow Coupe.
  19. Hi Rich,Good to hear you had an enjoyable, troublefree trip and came home with a trophy.I was puzzled by the term "longest" which I took to mean farthest distance...What about the 83 year old from California travelling 70 mph on the super highways - was his car on a trailer?
  20. Nice project....I have fond memories of a 55 Pontiac at the Drive In theatre.
  21. Now that is NICE!..Thanks for the link to the article,Rich and welcome to the forum.
  22. I bought GL1 SAE90 gear oil at NAPA in the US - for use in the transmission...Use an Extreme pressure hypoid gear lubricant in the rear differential as in the manual, (available everywhere).
