  1. I was working at a job that took me to Sachs Harbour in the Canadian Arctic in 1976. I had my camera buried in my parka, removed it and took this photo. My film also broke, but I was able to save a couple of the shots. The bears were hunted by local Inuit residents. I had the opportunity to taste some of the meat, all I can say is, it would be an acquired taste .
  2. I'll be spending the winter here in southern Alberta - snowed here today as well. I kinda chuckled reading this, It brought to mind a few lines from the Clint Eastwood movie, Honkytonk Man.When there was a delay because of car trouble, the old boy in the movie said something to the effect ..."no sense me staying around here,if I take a bus I could be in Murfreesboro.."
  3. Yes, they did belong to me. I sold the pair plus accumulated parts ... they are now off to Poland I believe. The local hauler was taking them to Calgary and from there they were going to Vancouver, B.C. to be loaded in a container. A very expensive project to be sure. The bulk of the sand in my personal hour glass is no longer at the top either and I have lots to keep me occupied.
  4. A safer way to move a heavy load...This truck showed up at my property a couple of weeks ago and the two Lincolns were loaded within half an hour. The loading of the trailer was controlled by the driver using a wireless remote.
  5. Good idea on the drop light, better than tripping over extension cords...As to the your air conditioning, my furnace is now cycling to keep the indoors to a comfortable warm temperature. Yesterday the outside temperature wasn't bad here for this time of year, I washed a couple of the old cars outside without having to wear a jacket.
  6. Scotty,Good to hear you're still with us.... looking forward to updates on your P15 coupe.
  7. I'm very happy to hear that Corey made it home without a problem other than the trip may have taken longer than he had planned... When I was still working for a living and at the time didn't own my own car hauler, time was an important consideration for me as I still had "deadlines and commitments" to meet . On several occasions I arranged to rent U Haul trailers expecting them to be fully serviceable upon my arrival and to move without delay, after problems with the serviceability and safety of their trailers, I bought one myself and use it for transporting equipment, at least I know the history of it's use and maintenance.
  8. I like the model. Appears to be in very good condition. Have fun.
  9. The Canadian Dodge D25 grille has a number of individual cast pot metal pieces, both vertical and horizontal with screws holding it all together. When assembled it is rather heavy in comparison to a stainless steel grille.
  10. The Dodge D25 in Canada 1946-1948 was fitted with the plated pot metal grille in a shape that followed the contours of the Plymouth P15 grille,( front body and fenders)...
  11. Just keeping it simple...
  12. Read the ad...Looks like trouble... Why bother?
  13. Good to keep a positive outlook - as the saying goes, "When one door closes, another one opens"
  14. Jon, Nice to see you are once again active on the forum...
  15. Not that I want to encourage "poaching" of our survivor vehicles here in Canada by our southern neighbours, but $25000 Canadian is about $18700 USD at current exchange rates ...
  16. As dpollo mentioned the paint code no. can be found on a tag on the firewall. This chart lists the paint codes for Canadian built Chrysler cars....
  17. Another thing to consider is the Bakken oil boom in recent years has probably left quite a few with some play money and as Estevan is situated on the border with North Dakota, that coupled with the depressed Canadian vs US dollar might account for the crazy prices at the auction..
  18. Perhaps not the case here, but I have attended estate auctions where items have sold for unreasonably high prices. The only way I could figure why, was maybe a couple of family members were interested in the same item - Provides a better commission for the auctioneer and entertainment for those in attendance.
  19. Very sorry to hear of your loss...Been there and felt the pain.
  20. I came across this booklet among some Chrysler literature I have. I believe it dates back to the 1940's. I found it interesting to read through. On the back page, there is a Chrysler Corporation Driver's License with a perforated edge - I guess this is meant to be removed and filled out appropriately for an employee. The pages measure 3" by 5".
  21. Don't feel bad - When I bought my DeSoto, there was some damage that had been done in the past to the tail light bezels and I was a bit puzzled on the proper way to remove the tail light lens, I searched on the internet and found those photos I posted...
  22. On my 36 DeSoto Airstream, the tail light bezel is crimped to the housing and is not removable - There is a spring clip inside the housing that pushes the lens against the bezel. Not sure if yours is the same.To remove the lens, push the lens inward against the spring clip and tilt it outwards at an angle. It may be difficult to remove if the bezel has become distorted in shape...
  23. That is amazing that the batteries did not leak and still show a charge. As others have experienced,I've had to repair damage caused by batteries that have leaked during storage. I stopped at a garage sale a few weeks ago and found a Blue Point CGA-8B Automotive Electrical Tester.Turns out the elderly gent having the sale had operated a service garage years back and had some old stock he was selling off. There was nothing I needed, but I spotted the tester and he said I could have it for $10.00.The meter movement was good,It had the manual and test leads still with it,so I bought it. When I got it home I cleaned it up a bit and upon opening it up found it still had the original battery in it,(still wired in place from the factory). The tag secured with the wire said,"Wired fo shipping only.Remove when replacing battery." The battery had leaked and caused a bit of a mess, but I was able to clean it up and after installing a new battery found the tester to be still functional...The shadowing on the photo of the manual is fom overspray -the fellow's son does auto body and paint .
