  1. ...If any forum members will be in Spokane, Wa for the swap meet this coming weekend and would like to get together, PM me. I'll be there Fri through Sat. - I'm taking the opportunity for me to get outa Dodge for a couple of days.
  2. Top cylinder oilers have also been around for years - may be part of one.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Marvel-oiler-replacement-Ampco-Top-Cylinder-Lubricator-/130791069342
  3. Here's another from the .... coast in the northwest... http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2014/11/01/just-cool-cars-termite-taxi/18308101/
  4. A tough decision to make, hard to give up a project not completed but if no longer enjoyable it may be time to move on. It is an expensive hobby and while some may recover a good portion of their investment in time and money when it's time to sell, that has not been my experience. I've spent a lot on storage over the years and I would only recommend it for short term. Of the many cars I've owned over the years there is only a few I regret selling and it has nothing to do with their value in today's market but has more to do with the memories of the enjoyment I had working on them and driving them.
  5. Following is the note in the 1937 Chrysler Shop Manual regarding tightening aluminum alloy heads as supplied as an option by Chrysler back in the day. My 1942-46 Chrysler Shop Manual has the same recommendation... See paragraph 2
  6. ...It was in the "tune-up" section of the manual
  7. I don't have an aluminum alloy head. I have noticed in my Chrysler shop manual under engine tune-up there is a note: "Iron cylinder heads should be tightened while engine is warm. Aluminum alloy cylinder heads Must be tightened while Cold. No torque difference is mentioned.
  8. Nothing that I could see that is legible... You may choose to go with 15" rims. As well as the proper bolt pattern, you would probably also want the clips for the original hubcaps and holes for the locating pin on those rims.If possible buy as a set.
  9. This is a photo of a stock 37 Chrysler 16 " rim
  10. Nice to start the day with a chuckle.
  11. This is a couple of pages I scanned from the 1941-1942 Canadian Edition of the truck shop manual. The 1/2 ton is classed as a DD 1 model rather than WC. It's interesting to note the terminology in the text," mild EP gear oil" - "active" and "Inactive" hypoid lubricants and a method for testing is described ...
  12. Hey, this guy even wrote a song about having both pony and a boat ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpM8FjO4Vko
  13. Reading the first post,I believe the discount expired July 31,2013.
  14. We are fortunate where I live that the tap water is of very good quality and certainly safe to drink. Reading another thread about water conservation and aware of the shortage of good drinking water in other places, I almost feel guilty about watering our lawn with our good quality tap water...Having said that, I have experienced tap water in other areas that has an unpleasant odour as well as a foul taste. Boiling the water for either coffee or tea doesn't always work satisfactorily and taking a shower is sometimes done in haste. So,I do drink bottled water when travelling, also beer and occasionally sodas...
  15. ...Found this chart on, "bobistheoilguy", shows viscosity engine oil vs gear oil -( there are other differences)....GL1 gear oil has no sulphur odour and is available at NAPA in the US
  16. As I recall ,the first time I noticed "prolly" used was in the Pogo comic strip.
  17. Another item to add to the list - Enjoy a ride on one of the remaining steam trains here in North America.
  18. Good video.Times change. When I started my apprenticeship I was making less than 80 cents an hour - When I quit working ten years ago,the starting wage was close to $20. per hour.
  19. Those little guys kinda mess up the windshield as well....Have a safe and enjoyable trip.
  20. In my 48 Dodge,(6 volts),the pins are in the same plane -1158 dual filament bulbs. It requires checking the operation of the tail light and turn signal function,(brighter) when the bulbs are replaced.
  21. A good one, Eneto.I also have that record.
  22. Interesting... As far as high RPM on the older vehicles, I'm thinking not much above 3000 RPM - It can get windy here in southern Alberta as well. Newest vehicle I have with an oil bath air cleaner is my 1977 Ford F250.I haven't experienced that problem on any vehicle I have to date. If a vehicle came equipped stock with an oil bath air cleaner I don't see any point in changing to a paper filter unless modifying the engine for performance reasons and changing carburetion or maybe personal preference, but that's an individual choice.
