  1. That is where I mounted mine. I only use it to prime the engine, then I leave it off and mechanical pump pulls thru it.
  2. A number of years ago the Rolling Stones played an outdoor concert at the football stadium in Regina. They called Regina a great city because it rhymed with fun.
  3. Is it a Deluxe, or a Special Deluxe? Were the Plymouths of that era built in Canada ? Does it have the 23" or 25" block? Sorry for all the questions, but this gives me a chance to sort out some things about my car (1950 Dodge Special Deluxe) ? Thanks Neil
  4. Mine has driven from beside my house into the garage and back. I'm not judging.
  5. Works well on my 1950 Dodge as well. I replaced the brake pressure switch with 1'of these.
  6. On my Canadian 50 Special Deluxe, signals were a dealer installed option. When I replaced the wiring, you could see where the wires were spliced and ran under floor mats to trunk. Maybe the US cars were the same?
  7. Congratulations on your purchase. They are a great way to spend time and money.
  8. Looks like a great starting point. Welcome to the group, there are a lot of smart people on here willing to help.
  9. My Canadian Dodge has dealer installed signal lights. They became factory in 51. When I rewired it, you could see where they had cut the wires under the dash and added the signal light wires. The wires were then run under the carpet to the trunk and then to the signal/brake lights. The sockets were changed as well to allow dual pin bulbs.
  10. I got my headliner from WLS last fall. The person who helped me install it, (actually he installed and I supervised) mentioned the foam backing as well. I told him that on their website that it makes it easier to install. He was suspicious of that claim, but after it was done he did agree with the ease of installation. It fit good.
  11. My wife and I just celebrated our 6th Wedding Anniversary totalling 24 years. Married February 29th, 1992.
  12. My car is also Canadian. It is a Dodge Special Deluxe, very similar to the US Plymouth version but with the 25" block. I have an original manual and parts catalogue. They are very handy in locating parts.
  13. Welcome from Saskatchewan. My car and I have both lived in Saskatchewan all of our lives.
  14. Not mine, but on this website. http://p15-d24.com/topic/35043-diy-fiberglass-heater-duct-heater-rebuild-volvo-heater-valve/
  15. Just finished reading the complete story, great story. Thanks for taking the time to write it up and share.
  16. This is the same pertinent advice I was given when I received my car.
  17. After my Father in Law had his stroke and could no longer drive, our car was passed to my wife. This makes her the 4th generation owner. After we got it home, I assured him I would get it running by the end of summer. I am by no means a mechanic, but not scared to take on a challenge. With the help of a friend I did get I running (?) sort of, by the big Fall car show. He was very happy to ride Shotgun. Around the same time, I joined this group. At the car show, an older gentleman came up and asked about the car and my plans for it. After I told him the story, he gave me the best advice I have received during this journey. His advice, "Don't take on a frame off restoration until you know more about the car Get it running and work on it as time and money allow. Too often people take on a big project and realize they are in over their head and end up with a bunch of random parts." I also joined our local antique car club. Some credit also goes to YouTube and the people who post on it showing people like me what to do. I read a lot of posts and try to contribute when possible. For me, the research and working on the car is as enjoyable as driving it. Thanks to all and have a great Holiday however you celebrate it. Neil
  18. These are great stories. Sometimes, it is the last thing you would ever think of. Thanks for posting these stories. They are a great read.
  19. When I was a kid, my buddy had a 54/55? dodge flathead, and he always said, " if somebody walks by with an ice cream cone it won't start".
  20. Did some more tinkering with the horn this morning. Ooooops, realized that trumpet part needs to be on to depress the vibrator.
  21. I am trying to fix up 1 of these horns and I have it apart, but I am getting a dead short across it when I energize. Not sure where the paper gaskets go? It looks just like the previous pictures. I will keep poking around and post updates. Thanks for now Neil Checked the coil, it appears ok. Checked the wire wound resistor, it also appears ok. Will do some more research and tackle it again tomorrow or Sunday. Neil
