  1. if you good fabricator and determined to NOT FAIL....sure, why not...but in this sense..subframe would be the ideal....a 49 will accept a more modern Dodge frame as one will slide into the other for welding .....but as a fabricator you would know this already......
  2. man refers to the article written mid 50's years ahead of the 392 hemi he speculated at....
  3. just took this apart this morning and have transferred it to the house....lift number three...this should finish me up for now......Hope to get it back together in a couple of days...depends on my bud's schedule and if he can give a hand at the task....he and his son rode this morning for the disassembly.
  4. set your vehicle up the manner you want it...tires, rear ratio..different tansmission, different speedometer head makes no never mind.....check the real (GPS) against the indicated on the speedometer....tell the man just those two and your worries are over.....its just that simple....
  5. I know in many cases folks want a bolt and go kit because they do not have the brake line tools for making their own. This is understandable, many will not use the tool a second time if they bought one so will not invest the initial cost. Well places like Advance car parts and others have a loaner program where you pay for the item and take it home, use it and return the kit when you have finished for a refund. It's their loaner program and protects them against loss for failure to return item by some folks. Lines are so easy to make...chamfer is the key and follow the instructions...almost impossible to screw up.
  6. one of the better solutions would likely be to call these folks...I got a corrector built (ratio adapter) for my bastard set up of MG rear axle, larger wheels, Datsun 5 speed and the Morris 1504 Rev Per Mile speedometer...she is dead on the money at all speeds...(per GPS) this one also needed custom cables for the different systems in play...excellent service by John. 7. AND we still do not know what name is on the fender script..Highlander maybe?
  8. little online digging shows this comment..... Summit-Racing and Eastwood-Company paints are relabeled Finish-1 products. They even share the same color names. Finish-1 paints are manufactured and sold by Sherwin-Williams.
  9. the 4 season book at most big box stores may be a good look through for matching up...
  10. I will say one thing, think of the problems you have had all these years and NOT yet got your DeSoto on the road and NOW think of the shops you have carried your stuff to and they have charged you an arm and a leg and YOU STILL DO NOT HAVE a repaired component much less an operational car. This is a hobby, done for fun, while can be reliable only to the point you are SELF RELIANT.....
  11. your biggest worry is when you park out and away from all the cars, some chap interested in your car will park right next to you and blamo..the klutz will allow his door to slam into your car......just because they too dang lazy to take another 5 steps....
  12. I also am one that does not like this feature..for some threads there will NEVER be a solution as there was no question. In other cases the solution was ONLY what the originator agreed was best for him, could be a total cut corner but satisfied him. This is just my opinion only.....
  13. we got four season....warm and dry, warm and dry with bugs. wet and cold, wet and cold with bugs....!
  14. what 48 Plymouth had a 3.54 rear gear? If you found that in a 48 Plymouth, likely it was transplanted earlier by a PO.
  15. I think by reading your prior threads you may end up with two in-op project cars.....tread carefully
  16. Feel for the folks that live in snow country......but you can move.....? The storm passed through here and the rain was most heavy with associated high winds. This continued for some 8 hours....we hit saturation by daylight, before the storm passed both yards were standing water even on the slopes....lol After the rain, it soaked in gradually and with continued winds it helped a bit I am sure. My bud lost two big trees and if he can hold off till Thursday morning I will gladly help him with their removal but am tied up tomorrow with both morning and evening appointments in a direction 180 from him. I have not ventured out into the surrounding area but hopefully very little damage done to the local pecan orchards....they topple easily in saturated soil and high winds. Hate to see a tree go down...
  17. there are many possibles and one is only limited by lack of imagination and creativity. If asking as to a bolt on unit via a kit with all inclusive hardware (bracket bolts lines etc.) for the task, I would not think it may easily found. Some may market the bracket but local master procurement and plumbing will be on you. While not specifically for a truck, my latest Mopar of the era I upgraded, I used a master from a Dodge Dakota with same bore and stroke and made my own nipples and retainer plated and used an easily adapted dual chamber remote reservoir purchased from E-bay. Easy and extremely friendly to the wallet.
  18. Very creative, but I would be concerned my tool would begin accelerated rusting and become unreliable...
  19. if you are a metal worker, anything can be done...if you asking if direct exchange NO...While the bodies look similar in design, they not even the same sized bodies, the Dodge is the larger car.
  20. Sorry your book has this missing....in the US, the dog ate that page.......
  21. with the number of questions you seem to be having I seriously recommend you buy a shop manual if you do not have one already....they are indispensable if you service your own vehicle..... E-bay listing, many to choose from......quick link only.. 1941-1948 Dodge Passenger Car Shop Manual. Codes D-19, D-22, D-24 | eBay only freebie I can link is the owners manual Download Dodge 1941 D-19 Owner's Manual | ManualsLib
  22. Little humor on the same line 'proper use of a creeper'
  23. give me five and let it come alive.....I'll take four but only on the floor...if I have to settle for three....anywhere but the tree....! For sure the selector setup on the old Mopars put an added twist to the floor shifter...I even prefer automatic shifters be on the floor....puts a bit of sport into the build...
  24. aging..................Earth's kryptonite
  25. Makes me shiver just thinking about going out much less creating my own wind chill at speed.....been a long time since I took a motorcycle out on anything but nice clear day. My hat's off to you....enjoy your retirement.....approaching year 12 and loving it...!
