This is what a PV544 Roadster would look like given the cowl profile and longer hood...short deck and you can't fool me with those Ford alloys that are made in Italy for the compact spare......I got my eye on you......Actually as the Volvo PV544 share the 4.5 lug circle...I already have a set of these same wheels with the Ford name and number removed, centered and drilled, tapped to use the AR alloy center caps....

I remember 1976 as the first swine flu scare.....Tim Conway and Carol Burnett skit comes to mind Tim with that pig nose as he morphed.....even so...the population was less tuned in to the internet some 11 years ago...grandma and grandpa are often wide open on social media today.....things seem to always sway toward the majority...- 159 replies

Odd, but with the cost of doing business with them responsible for shipping of the old item under warranty...they probably think it best to eat that cost...PROBLEM.....what happens when you give it to the next person....this could get costly for the maker......lol

GM don't make paint...they just buy it contract.....narrow VW tires...gasser stuff on these old rides....Ford wheel cover, found beside the road most likely, kinda fails economically really...they did not even stay on the Ford wheel.....? I could go on but I really got some work to do...just assembled a head, installed a few new studs, core plug and what not. I need to make a split washer thick enough for a backer as the gland nut is not long enough to pack the sender into the head against the taper and also need to make four yoke washers for where the intake/exhaust are split joint......will do this one night in the shop when I feel like powering up the lathe.

A well made roaster would be trick....the convertible tops on these model look like a total afterthought in style and looks up or down position. A nicely done tonneau with zippered compartment would be all you need as most of these cars are fair weather drivers as it is...the absence of the framework for the folding top would greatly improve the looks. If you go for it, failure is not an option....quitting midstream you will be drawn and quartered at least verbally....make that thing......…..ALL AMERICAN

Spring test drive - I want more top end
Plymouthy Adams replied to 48ply1stcar's topic in P15-D24 Forum
don't over look the cheaper aftermarket points and the flimsy spring or often not installed spring(s) that will contribute to point bounce...if they bounce they cannot take the coil into saturation.. -
I was fine with Rock Auto even given many of the parts are not quite what we know as NAME brands. The killer to the deal was the order was to be divided between 5 sources and shipping then went off the charts. Plan B, NOS off e-bay and buy it now deals. The overall better shopping experience, bought all name brands, shipping included with the bid price....shipping guaranteed by 6 days for even the largest items, all here by Saturday only 3 days later with the clutch kit arriving next morning early by UPS...I ordered 2 transmission seals and two engine mounts from the rock, still had to pay shipping from two places...ugh...over all....I saved 88.00 on e-bay with name brands and faster shipping compared to the same items, non-brand in some cases from the Rock, the Rock order may be here in another 3 days if I am lucky. I will admit, Rock prices on the engine mounts as a clearance item made them the go to....All parts from E-bay arrived in original boxes and still wrapped in cellophane, even the NOS point set has phenolic breaker cam. Anyway...did use the discount code with Rock...when I was servicing my Porsche, Rock did have the better deal on brakes, bearings and seals, rebuild kits and what not. Just got to shop.

47 should be a two wire....you need 6 volts in to the guage….you need two wires to the sender...wire 1 and 2 or A and B however is marked. These run to the sender a the tank. The sender then will take each leg to ground simultaneously through the wiper that is the single ground reference at the rear. The sender reads 1-2 (A-B) approx. 30 ohms....depending on the wiper position this 30 ohms is split by the wiper to ground and if you have 20 ohms on the one leg, there should be 10 ohms on the other leg...this pulls the gauge in both directions and is slow acting also providing a rock steady indication on the needle. Now as you have hooked it up to other sender, you will have to fully test you system now for possible damage. Majority of the problems with the older sender is the inside cup and the pivot point that is the wiper contact to the housing...these get rusted over long periods of sitting with no fuel to protect against corrosion. This cup and wiper is a hard items to clean for the smooth ground operation of the wiper you are going to have to have to not be erratic.

understood and noted but if you were to look, Chrysler in Brazil made tons of these cars with V8s and the Dakota was also popular in the 90 and by that time the slant was gone and V6 was common as was yet the V8

I have a traditional European carpet to make for this car I am working now...I have a professional cut and bound carpet kit in a color I do not want as a pattern to copy. However, in fitting that set..a better fit will entail a bit more custom cut but will yet allow for easier marking for a DIYer like myself, the overlaps is insufficient in my opinion. Then there is the binding the edges yet to do. I searched for along time finding a carpet source in the color, style and weight needed. While not really expensive...any replacement will be cut off a different mother...while often not a concern, it is a consideration when buying to allow for a tad of waste or remnant. I bought an extra three linear feet.
-
unfortunately bad fit is usually due directly to a badly sewn/formed carpet. It is hard to believe one would cut this corner on install given a well fitting piece of carpet....

you going from one engine that is long out of production and some parts is somewhat limited and very expensive if you looking for HP gains....to yet another engine that is also outdated, no longer supported and limited in sources for HP gains and way much harder to retrofit.....I see this as a step backwards even given at this time they are available to you. The swap to the small block 318 will give you way better ease of retrofit, ample source for parts and all at the more affordable pricing. But of course this is all your cost and the efforts to fit all falls on you or your chosen shop.....we can just advise.
-
thanks for the pictures, it is traditionally European style fitment for sure...even my trimmer here does the older cars in a very similar manner....and well, I guess any car without a formed carpet would need this style fitting and binding. I like it, the contrasting binding seams actually highlights, but then it is something I am very used to...others still prefer the preform but sadly older cars are limited in that style availability.
-
thanks for the report back on your finding, sadly the carpet did not work out as intended, most times in these older cars they do not....the trimmer is usually always your best immediate go-to if you do not do trim work yourself. It would be nice to see a picture of your trimmer install of the carpet if you have one to post.

you don't have to....

even so...the question of service along the road generator verse alternator...still the main point if you are driving this pup out of a comfortable retrieval range of your home shop...even more of a value with the alt if you are considering any electrical upgrades in say, AC, electric fan and or any modern booster stereo (given at you age you can still hear)
-
with the change to 12 and aside from having a 12 gen on hand is one point for sure.....weigh the cost of on the road repair and limp in compared to the OTC cost of an alternator and couple minute fix about any town with a parts house....or unguarded car without a hood lock...?

it has been reported her a number of times that these small 4 inch element are too small for the application to the flathead and results in restricted air flow. Report of stacking two of these resulted in better/ample air flow. Edmunds knows this and markets a special tall filter... When running at the lower end, cleaning/changing intervals increase as stated given it is suitable for correct flow to begin with. Washable units are nice given the fact that it is often so hard to find a replacement element for these aftermarket cleaners. This is a major aspect to consider when buying one of these, finding new elements. Other areas may be different but in my area (yes repressed for sure) its tough finding either at times.

Interesting photos I have run across.

beauty is skin deep, ugly cuts to the bone...this ranks right up there with COE's...butt ugly...COE's look their best while driving in reverse....I ran across this particular vehicle researching the company name for some NOS parts I located to see who the company was and it was intriguing enough to read the story. Given the date of build, very much different, the working donkey of the industry. https://www.throttlextreme.com/bizarre-teardrop-1934-mcquay-norris-streamliner/ -
