  1. Can't remember what????
  2. It has been along time since I replaced my timing chain set. It came off without much difficulty with a medium puller. I lined up the timing marks on the sprockets before I took anything off. I think I put everything back on all at the same time. I have seen many threads on here with photos of the timing marks...
  3. http://www.ebay.com/itm/140986697950?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_1318wt_884 12 to 6 volt reducer, voltage regulator.... Found this on the ebay today...
  4. The listing states that starter is for a 383 V8. Too bad, at $64 would be a great buy for our flatheads. I bought two 1956 Dodge starters on ebay years ago. One in my 38 Coupe now, and the other is for my 56 Dodge engine....
  5. Maybe Jay Leno and crew would do a film,,,,
  6. I recently brought home a 98 Jeep XJ, 2 wheel drive, automatic, rolled over, but still can drive around the property. It has a 3.55 rear I may try in the Coupe to test the difference in the Ranger 3.73 gears. My Coupe only has 80HP, but does ok with the 3.73, first gear a little low, but very good coming up my driveway, and fifth gear ,good over 45mph on level roads...
  7. The 6 speed would be a great adaptation to our old flatheads. I really like my 5 speed setup. I used the 1983 to 1987 TK5 Ranger trans. Not expensive, and no adapter needed.
  8. Yes, I have several of the 36, 37, and 38 bellhousings, and a spare 37, and 56 engine to get my measurements from. The 56 had a very deep bell housing, but i installed the 38 bell to the 56 when setting up my 5 speed combo. So far, working very good....
  9. I used a 1956 12volt starter in my 38 Coupe. I installed a 5speed Ranger trans, onto my original bellhousing, see the thread "5speed not T5"..
  10. I have a 36 Dodge trans, a 37 dodge trans, and a couple 38 Plymouth trans. With any of these bellhousings, I could bolt any of the transmissions, to my 56 Dodge engine, or my 37 Dodge engine.. I have had 3 of these in my 38 Coupe, but ended up with a Ranger 5 speed/Plymouth bellhousing setup, Ranger clutch, Plymouth pressure plate.
  11. Here in Va/Tenn., it is the dealers that kill the sales. It took me hours, and much coffee to get a fair deal on a new 2000 Dodge Avenger, and this was after many trips to different Mopar Dealers. Every Mopar dealer we went to had the same dishonest, do not care attitude. The Avenger was great, V6, good power, 35mpg on trips. Any Dodge,Ford,Chevy dealer near where I live, have the attitude, pay MSRP or do not buy.
  12. Your Wagon looks great. The smoked glass looks great also. I have green tinted glass in my Coupe. With the white body, makes the windows look darker than they actually are. I have worked on my Coupe 26 years, and still not finished, but it is driveable.....
  13. I believe spacers and high rise manifolds were to increase HP at higher RPM, not sure..
  14. Many years ago, I read that plywood makes a good carb spacer. I have a few small pieces of 12ply 5/8 plywood, I will make a couple of spacers, and try one.....
  15. When I was cleaning the carb on my P5, I had many carb cleaners, that did not work well or some not at all. The carb cleaner that worked very good to remove the varnish was Carquest carb cleaner. If your lines are not very old or in good condition, other than the varnish problem, you may want to try the Carquest product.
  16. Found another coolant filter on ebay. This one attaches to the radiator hose, 32mm or 38mm.
  17. Electric fule pumps do a better job at pushing fuel are than drawing fuel. I put a fuel filter near the tank, and then the fuel pump. I turn on the key, wait 3 second, and have fuel in the carb bowl, always has started easy now. I installed a fuel pressure gauge near the carb. Runs about 5 lb of pressure.....
  18. When I installed a Ranger rearend in my 38 Coupe, I bought new 1.5 spring perches from a utility trailer sales/parts place. They fit perfect.... They have ones that fit different size housings....
  19. PT, here are a couple of photos of my 48 Dodge MC experiment. I used a Mustang II used MC to see if it was adaptable, and work good. I used a 9 inch rod running through the original MC, to push the Mustang II MC. I made a bracket from a piece of angle iron, to hold the newer MC in place. Brakes worked good, so I bought a rebuilt MC from the autoparts, made a better bracket, and it has worked good since. There is a small hump in the floor near the front of the seat, but not noticeable. One pump, full pedal, and months later, did not have to add any fluid....
  20. My fuel tank is 8 inch deep. I bench tested several fuel gauges, and sending units to get a match. I used a Ford fuel gauge with my 38 Plymouth gauge face attached. I believe I used a Datson fuel sender, can not remember the ohms, but I dropped the voltage to 9 volt, and then again to 6 volt to get the fuel gauge to match the readings of the sender. The 6 volt reducer did the trick. I used a $3 resistor to go to 6 volt. I moved the setup from the bench to the fuel tank, and all is working good so far.....
  21. I was reading on a Jeep forum, that the Jeep guys are using a Super charger setup on the inline 4.0 engine. The super charger they are using, is from the small GM 3.8 engine......
  22. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Restrictor-Plate-Rendering.png NASCAR uses a Restrictor-plate sometimes at racing events. This cuts down on fuel/air going into a engine, similar to what the 2 to 1 barrel adapter does.... The smaller the bore, the less power....
  23. The Mountaineer parts are a great find. 3.73 or 3.55 are great options. I am happy with the 3.73 rear so far with my setup, but with a V8, the 3.55 would be a better choice. Alot depends on your tranny choice. The leafs, anti sway bar, etc. would be good to install also. I used a Bronco master cylinder on my original pedal assembly, working good so far.
  24. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Carburetor-Adapter-2-Barrel-Carb-To-1-Barrel-Manifold-/390561954962?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5aef4e7c92&vxp=mtr#ht_2191wt_758 Ebay has these 2 barrel to 1 barrel adapters. These would not give much performance benefit, with your fuel/air mixture still going through one barrel. There is not much room on a stock 1 barrel intake to open up the hole.
  25. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-New-15-Gal-Gas-Fuel-Tank-For-4-2-GAS-/400320606623?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AJeep&hash=item5d34f7b19f&vxp=mtr#ht_1870wt_912 There are several new Jeep fuel tanks, that are very similar to size and shape, to our Plymouths. About $70 new, delivered....
