  1. I like the light green. I went with dark green interior, and then a friend gave me a tan seat, and another friend gave me tan carpet. It is all fun, no matter what colors.....
  2. I got my headliner material from Walmart, a good quality blanket. It has a little stretch, looks great, and not difficult to install. A good blanket is really two liners back to back with seams hidden stitching every two or three inchs apart. Easy to install the rods where they need to go....
  3. What I did was hook my battery charger to a spare headlight terminal, and then from the second headlight terminal to the battery, for a few minutes. After a few minutes, my battery charger would work ok without the headlight attached...
  4. I installed a 1995 Ranger rearend in my 38 Coupe. I had to add 1 inch spacers to get the wheels out to look good. I have a 98 XJ Cherokee rearend for my 37 project that is alot better fit, and also has the same wheel bolt pattern. I helped my Uncle install a Nova rearend in his 36 Plymouth, and a disc brake front, so all the wheels would have the Chevy bolt pattern.... He installed a 307 Chevy engine.....
  5. Years ago when I would store my 38 for the winter, I would put a tablespoon of trans fluid in each cylinder. I always worried about rings locking up when starting the car in the spring. I would never use starting fluid, carb cleaner or anything of that nature on a spring start up. I have seen engine lock up doing it that way.
  6. I am just guessing, but I think I could use my 6 bolt flywheel on my 37's 4 hole crank, by just using 4 bolts. Starters:, I believe there was a change in starters from 57 and newer in the length where they engage, maybe a 1/8 inch or so, for Plymouth/Dodge. When I was looking for a new/rebuilt 56 starter, (my 56 came with a 53/54 starter), the infor I got was the 57 and up were different.... I do not remember about the Desota, and Chrylser.... I can change my starters from my 37, and 56 engines.....using my 38 bell.
  7. When I got my 37 engine that had been sitting for several years, I installed a new filter, 134pl Fram, 30wt oil, and I put a little 2 stroke oil in my gallon can of fuel.. I used 30wt oil for a couple more years before I started using 15/40 wt. Over 20 years now, no problems....
  8. This is what the 56 six bolt looks like. I used it for my 5 speed Ranger trans mock up, to go into my 38 Coupe. The pilot hole is the same as the 37 engine I installed the 5 speed to....
  9. I believe in Don C's engine, it is a Desoto engine, witch could be different than the Plymouth or Dodge engine, in regards to the flywheel/starter match up. I believe that is why he did machine work to match up his starter/flywheel..... I am running a 1938 bell housing on a 218 engine(37) with a 12volt starter from a 1956 230 engine. My 56 has the 6 bolt crank, and 201 bell housing with a 1953 starter, while preparing for another 5 speed Ranger trans.....
  10. I have a 1956 Dodge engine that has the large P on the head.
  11. This recipe sounds like a recipe for a heart attach with all that salt and butter...
  12. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Addco-516-Front-Performance-Anti-Sway-Bar-Stabilizer-Kit-/300743432299?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3ACherokee&hash=item4605b4986b&vxp=mtr#ht_6789wt_986 I found this Ebay listing that these swaybars with fit 1984 to 2001 Cherokees.
  13. Years ago I bought a S10, 79000 miles on it, locked up engine, from an old guy, that had never changed the oil, or oil filter. When I pulled the drain plug off, no oil came out. When I took the oil pan off, I got 7 quarts of oil, and several inchs of solid matter.....
  14. What year Jeep Cherokee did you get the sway bar from. I have a 98 Cherokee, I would like to use the sway bar on my Plymouth.... I have a 95 Ranger sway bar that looks to be an ok fit, but the Jeep looks better...
  15. My TK5 Ranger trans has the shifter very far to the rear of the trans. Look at the "5speed, not T5" thread, page 6, post #112, you can see the photo of how I got around this, by curving the shifter. I have a bench seat, from a GMC Surburban.
  16. http://p15-d24.com/topic/17737-5-speed-not-t5/ Here is the thread of my project....
  17. Some time ago, I started a thread, "5 speed not T5". Using the TK5 Ranger trans, no adapter is needed. I used the my Dodge pressure plate, bell housing, throwout bearing. I used a Ranger clutch disc.
  18. The 5 speed manual with a floor shift I am running, is a TK5 Ford Ranger, units from 1983 to 1987. Was a easy install. Is working great. Many have used the S10 Chevy 5 speed manual floor shift also...
  19. Maybe you should hear the 39 run for yourself, to see if it does actually have a problem, or if it is rebuildable. If you can or need to, rebuild the 201, a 5 speed trans would make the car alot more driveable.... My 38 has about 80HP, and is very driveable with the 5 speed trans. I have a 56 engine, still a 23 inch small block, 132 HP, that I plan on using in my 37 project. Plenty of possibilities out there.....
  20. I saved this Napa 1080 oil filter I took out of my 38 Coupe about 20 years ago. Today I took it apart to see what was inside. Looks to be several miles of some type fiber material. I wonder how Napa packed so much material in there. This 1080 is over 20 years old, I wonder how they are made today. The pan on the right is a Fram spin on I removed from my Jeep recently, not much material in there...
  21. Your "drive em, don't hide em", would make a good saying on a t-shirt, or bumper sticker. I see alot of very nice older cars in my area, but never at the saturday evening cruise-in, or even on the highways....
  22. http://www.ebay.com/itm/FORD-Dodge-Import-Dual-Engine-Oil-Filter-Remote-Mount-PH8A-New-/360644864995?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item53f81bebe3&vxp=mtr#ht_778wt_646 A dual oil filter adapter would be nice.
  23. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Remote-Oil-Filter-Adapter-Universal-Ports-Up-VW-Bug-VW-Dune-Buggy-Hot-Rod-/190892160399?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c720f358f&vxp=mtr#ht_1159wt_847 Found this one on Ebay, about $20 for the unit.
  24. This is true, our old cars should have vented fuel caps. If the cap is working properly pressure should not build up. My 38 has a non vented cap, fuel tank from a Datsun 1978, that has a vent hose, I ran to the air cleaner. My Coupe runs on "fumes".....
