  1. There is a similar bellhousing on ebay listed as 1958 Mopar...
  2. I believe I can copy a bracket similar to what Oldguy48 has made, to install on the 38. I have an original 37 weak swaybar with brackets that I can use for a pattern...
  3. The 6 volt battery I bought from Tractor Supply was 900 amps, big and heavy but fit in the 48's battery slot/box.... Tractor Supply has many 6 volt smaller, less amp batteries...
  4. Chrysler windlace is still available on ebay, $2.99 per foot....... Walmart windlace in the sewing department is alot cheaper........
  5. I bought my new windlace at Walmart. I covered the windlace with black leather(real cow type stuff, not plastic leather), from an old leather coat, and some spray glue.....looks very good....
  6. Chrysler and Desoto got the new stuff/upgrades first, and Plymouth would soon follow suit. I think Dodge was in the middle there to get new stuff/upgrades......
  7. Bob, great write up. I have been on the look out for a Dodge/Plymouth van/truck slant six for a possible unit for one of my projects. I have a Jeep XJ six/automatic, that I may use, but would rather use the slant.... Recently I found a Industrial flathead attached to a big generator, sure would like to have that unit....
  8. Capt Fred, Both my 37, and my 38 have the leaf spring front ends. I have been moving, adding, and removing springs many times to get the look I like. I added a couple of Jeep springs to the mix also. I believe 1938s were the last year for leaf spring fronts for Plymouth, not sure on other Mopars...
  9. The 54 Chrysler New Yorker, would fit on this forum very nice, even a airport tug with a Chrysler engine...
  10. Each of us has our own ideas of what or how we want to proceed with our projects. Suspensions from suppliers like "Fatman", are a big challenge also, and costs alot more than using donor parts. To each their own, but I am a firm believer in buying a donor vehicle, use what parts I can and junk the rest, usually comes out free parts...
  11. Neil, that muffler should have been painted red, like "cherry bomb red"...........
  12. I have a 37 Coupe that I sat on a Ford Ranger frame, long bed. Fit very nice.
  13. I have been using shrinkpictures.com to downsize my photos to put on here. My newer camera takes large photos.
  14. My 38 Coupe has a similar noise in neutral since I installed my 5 speed. When it is in gear or when the pedal is pressed in, no noise, or at any speed so far. So far no problem though. I suspect it is the throwout bearing. I may pull out the trans this winter for an inspection.....
  15. Do you have any photos of the adapter plate?
  16. I just read on the Shanghai Metal Market, the past 7 weeks of scrap is about the same. Chicago, Pittsburg, Philadelphia,,,,average $318 per ton. Chicago,,,$344 ton... New York,,,,$284 ton...
  17. Some tow dollies have a big pin in the center to allow for the top half of the dolly to turn,,, locked steering, Some tow dollies rely on the tow straps to hold the tires inline, no big pin,,, unlocked steering.
  18. I have a 16 ft trailer with an electric winch, a tow dolly I converted from a big boat trailer, and a heavy duty foldable tow bar. Seems everyone here has a good knowledge of how to use them safely. Now if I can just get a tow vehicle to pull them, instead of borrowing a truck...
  19. The dash looks like my 37 sedan. my 38 does not have the tilt out windshield like the 37.
  20. Here is info on a 41 I believe that is similar to the 39. Maybe it will give you a little idea of how the original setup is. You have a great project there.....
  21. Do you know the numbers that are on the S10 transmission? That should tell what gear ratios, and year, you would be dealing with.
  22. Andy, good point about loosing the handbrake. I used a 95 Ford Ranger rearend, with the brake cables, etc. Still used my original handbrake handle to attach to the Ranger brake cables. I had already installed a big Ford master cylinder on my original brake pedals.
  23. I believe you would be very happy with any 5 speed trans, compared to our old 3 speeds. I tried a 3.9 rear gear, and then a 3.7 rear gear, and may try a 3.5 rear gear later. So far the 3.7 gear does great on level and slight upgrades. 55mph at 1700 rpm, 5 gear.......
  24. The S 10 shifter is a little more forward than the Ranger TK5, which makes the S 10 trans easier to fit if you have a bench seat. I compensated for this with my TK5 install, by putting more curve in the shifter, and I added a few more inch to the Ford shifter. I have a bench seat from a Chevy Suburban, 3rd row seat.....
  25. My friend's pontoon boat trailer has 10inch wheels, 5 lug also. No room for brakes, but will bolt on.
