  1. I did that, mid august in my steel quonset. Pulled two transmissions and installed one. I bought a mac taskmaster for a few hundred, old mopar ford and chevy connectors included. Was very handy. Havent dragged it out in a while. Still have a couple oldies that need it though.
  2. The drb is an awesome tool for these older mopars. As mentioned 3.3 is typically a solid engine. The 3.3 in my 97 intrepid outlasted the car. Transmission was solid too.
  3. Was -25 celcius this morning. -4 tomorrow morning. Next week off to calgary then Drumheller. Supposed to be warmer. my latest aquisition,2010 avalanche has excellent heat. Thankful for that.
  4. I did the same thing. It was a fluke that my parts truck had a floor shift. My column shift was not in good condition, somewhat of a battle to drive.
  5. That tick bite is nasty! Lots of ticks here, occasional case of lime disease. i did my cab mounts,on my 51 1/2 ton. I got all the nuts off first. The panel in the door jamb has to come off.flat panel between cab floor and running board. Then blocks and a bottle jack.
  6. Most parts stores dont stock the parts. Brake cups are a good example, they come in boxes of 10. So they wont bring in a box to sell 2 or 4. But you could order the whole box if you had a part number. I remember refilling the brake parts bin when i was in parts 25 years ago. Common then.
  7. Dont want to go in like a bolt, it can go in like a nail!!
  8. Could be the wiring under distributor cap. Engine starts, vacuum builds to rotate breaker plate and circuit opens or shorts to ground.
  9. Not easy. Left the nut on the shaft, about 1thread from tight and added another nut and lined up the flats. Socket, 4” extension and a big hammer. beat on extension while pulling up on wheel. Sharp blows. But know when to give up, before trashing it. The hollow steering shaft wont put up with much, im sure of that.
  10. Some helpful videos, i believe he has one on taking the shackles apart. https://youtube.com/user/194853DodgeTrucks
  11. Figured i would look at the thread posted above, to see how upper mount was done. not found. the mrs would like a seat belt.
  12. You might want to browse the websites of the companies that make serpentine drive kits for older vehicles. They typically have the technical data listed for the crank pulleys.
  13. The smaller trucks used step bores as well, they did away with the step bore wheel cylinders. Then self energizing brakes were developed dome years later.
  14. Crankshaft rotates 2 times for one revolution of distributor. and the 2 different springs in distributor are correct. For progressive timing advance. no mention of vacuum advance, common in industrial engines. set timing for 15-18 degrees advance at 1800 rpms. I think thats about all the timing it needs.
  15. Finding tdc requires you to turn engine clockwise, mark pulley when wire tops out, then proceed past then rotate crank counterclockwise and make another mark. Split difference. that is tdc.
  16. That’s a tough decision. as i have a large property and lots of buildings, storage isnt a problem. I used it to lilft engines, front of lawn tractors, truck cabs and boxes. I raised the rear of a truck to roll a rear diff out after cutting it loose. i use it to help with removing the hood too. Its not just a single use tool. for that reason i prefer the higher capacity hoist.
  17. Shop crane. A must have. All wheels should swivel unlike mine, two at the end of the long arms are rigid. I have to kick it sideways if i dont line it up right. I added the air/hydraulic to it. Worth the money for me. I do use mine often.
  18. Crank sensor removed for engine swap. you never know,it could be a low mileage engine. Spark plugs installed in factory have a drop of paint on wire connector tip.
  19. Thats exactly what i did. 360/727. Motorhome engine. moved steering box 1-1/2” left and engine roughly 1-1/2” right. Barely 1/2” between starter (dakota)and steering box. Should have gone higher
  20. I assume you had perches welded on to match original rear end? i changed my powertrain so had to set pinion to match the new driveline angle.
  21. Went for a little ride, was nice to go for a ride to town. Heater was on but thats fine. Was hoping for one more weekend, doesent look like it.
  22. Glad you figured it out. And on that note i think i will take mine out for one of the last rides of the season.
  23. Only way to check float is submerge in hot water and look for bubbles. I guess shaking it will tell you if fuel is trapped inside. an overnight problem, and sooty plugs has a flooding issue written all over it. gauge on pressure regulator? I see you checked pressure. Try running lower pressure?
  24. Float sunk. Common that they crack and fuel leaks in.
  25. Sure looks like a track from a tubing cutter. All that comes to mind is what was that guy thinking?
