I am guessing there are very few people here who would have any interest in a truck modified like that one,so you would probably be better off posting the photos and asking at a hot rod web site.

After all,it's not really a 50's Dodge truck anymore,is it?

Yes,but most of the people here seem to mostly be interested in stock,or close to stock older Mopar cars and trucks. Because of this there are very few people here who have any idea at all of what it is worth, and don't even care because they have no interest in it.

If you want an estimate of what a hot rod truck is worth, you go to a hot rod truck web site and ask them.

BTW,in case you think I am a purist,I will be putting my 1937 Dodge 1.5 ton pu for sale by next spring, and it is sitting on a 76 Dodge 4x4 chassis with PS,PB,aod trans, and a 318 engine. It's even going to be painted a light lime green color.

Yeah,I WILL most likely advertise it for sale on the for sale section of this site because it really is a rare truck with a 9 foot bed that was originally a fire truck, but that will be as a courtesy more than anything else because I don't expect many people here would even want it.

And asking for build advise on it at this web site makes as much sense as going to the desert to look for water.

Nice looking truck.

It's hard to define or establish a fair market value to our old Mopars, IMHO.  The 56 is a rarely seen year for some reason, so few change hands, stock or modified.  So not many sample transactions to use for comparison.

I also have a 56, undergoing work now.  I have no idea what it is really worth.  It will be near stock in appearance with a flathead 6, milled head, two barrel carb and 4 speed OD.  When finished I will probably have $4000 in parts and untold labor hours. I already have about 60 hours just in fixing dents and rust in  the two front fenders, and several more in engine work!   Add that to the 2k purchase price and estimate the labor's worth and arrive at a number I don't think I would ever get.  But it won't be for sale either.

My heirs will probably ask $25,000 for it and settle for the first decent offer.  And the definition of 'decent' will drop as time goes by without an offer.

Not really what the hobby is about here.  This is mostly a original, or somewhat close to it, type of hobbyist here.

Be like going to a Manchester United game and asking "How about them Bears?".  They're both football, right?

The Mopar crowd won't pay alot for it due to the shiverlay parts and the shiverlay crowd doesn't believe anyone except shiverlay built trucks in 56......I'd go $5k if the gm parts were removed.

True. If you want to update a Mopar with a OHV V-8,it had better be something like a 318,340,or 360,or you might have to give it away.

If is a 60's or 70's Mopar and you put a Chebby engine in it,look for crowds of people carrying torches and buckets of tar and feathers to descent upon your house.

$15000 - $20000 most any day, but you may see it for more. These fancy totally restomod trucks can go up to $35000.

Person  probably has at least $20k in it; nice paint job, new running gear, etc. he’s probably asking $25000

You can never get out of these  trucks what you put into them.

These are super hot in the market now; restomod trucks. My wife would love one that’s brand new underneath with modern amenities but classic truck on the outside.

That’s not exactly what I’m building for her….

In our country we call these bastards

From Webster Dictionary

Definition of bastard

2: of mixed or ill-conceived origin

3: of abnormal shape or irregular size

4: of a kind similar to but inferior to or less typical than some standard

5: lacking genuineness or authority

If the truck is what you personally want the truck to look like have the components that you desire and suits your budget then buy the truck. Just like Baskin robbin Ice we have lots of flavors to offer to our customers. So you get to pick what you want.

If the  project was done correctly and its good workmanship then purchase it and drive the Hxll out of the truck.

Everyone will have their own input to tell you what YOU as the buyer should do, but in the end it's all up to you.

So with that I guess all hot rods no matter if chevy, ford, willy's are of no good quality. Yes original is nice but everyone has their flavor of Ice Cream. Just like everyone has their own choice of a modern car and the type of car/truck

And when you consider that today the typical fast food worker gets paid more than that, 20 grand ain't really all that much money anymore.

I just had to buy a "nothing special" 12 volt battery last Friday, and the damn thing cost 160 bucks!

Money just ain't what it used to be.
