Well, I only took on cap off.  The others may be this way too.  I haven't gotten it tore down completely, I was just curious as to the sizing of the main bearings after looking at the rod bearing.  Anyone know if factory bearings are stamped DCPD?

They are stamped DCPD.

Thanks, well I think I can confirms that someone has been in there in the past.  No DCPD stamped on the bearings, shim as mentioned.  Really clean inside.  Too bad piston 6 broke.  I might have not needed a rebuild.  More as I get to it.

Have you found ant bolts with DCPD ?

Not yet, though the valves have DCPD on the underside of the heads

DCPD where used everywhere on engine and transmission.

Head bolts have other marking probably made and hardened elsewhere.

Body fasteners are special MoPar crown bolts.

If your engine lack these, it's not a virgin ?

I am going to pull my trans when I swap the 230 in.  Thinking ahead I should probably reseal it and clean it up.  Nice paint, etc.

So with that in mind I am thinking to put together a good reseal kit.  Best Gasket sells a gasket kit, no seals.

So here's my reseal kit listing

Best Gasket 5076 - gaskets, good source?
NATIONAL 8160S -  output shaft seal
Speedo adapter seal - ???
Verify the input retainer groove lines up with the drain.

Clutch and shifter bushings, any insights there?

What else am I missing?

Thanks

Sniper, on my 52 Cranbrook I used a Honda seal for the speedo adapter #91204-HB3-004. Shift shaft seal from Clear Water Hydraulics # 2-111/Q (7/16 x 5/8 x 3/32), the other shift shaft seal was an O ring of suitable size.

Today we would frown on this as we are trying to restore them ... back then it was just a way to get further down the road.

the problem still exist where these folks claim to be doing a restore using same said tactics and pass it along to an unsuspecting buyer who assumes the guy's heart and soul was in the build....corners are cut so quick these days.....flippers are out for gold...not a gold record.

Well I am in the process of tearing down the 230 I bought for my EFI hot rod engine.

I built the gantry crane to handle it, solo work mostly so it's easier for me to deal with than my 30 year old engine hoist.  I picked up 4 lifting eyes to screw into the head bolt holes, seems I only needed one, center hole picks it up nice and level.  The engine stand my neighbor gae me the day before, had to run to Ace to get mounting hardware and it only fits to the bellhousing pattern in one spot.

Do you know what bolts and hardware would fit on a harbor freight 2000 lb motor stand and connect to a 218/230?
