central52
On my 47 Dodge, I noticed it has a red dash lite to indicate when the parking brake was engaged. Wasn't working, so I traced the power wire from the the unit on the parking brake lever to the switch on the dash. And it's hot till I get to the unit. Took it out, weird looking thing. Hot wire just connects to one outlet with the screw shown. Why the other two? Can't see where underneath dash it connects. Bulb didn't go on. And it's a small one. Trying to locate someone who sells them. Must be a simpler way to connect a lite. Ed Edited August 24, 2015 by central52
Plymouthy Adams
if you were to look on your schematic in the repair manual it would show you how to connect the multi function switch/light combo... page 104 figure 29 Edited August 24, 2015 by Plymouthy Adams
central52
Thanks, for the info. However, I don't have that particular repair manual you mentioned. Can you give me the name of it, and I'll try to get one. Again, thanks, Ed
Plymouthy Adams
Ed, this is not the first time you have been suggested to follow the schematic....you have so many electrical post asking question of how this or that is wired...the schematic has been posted to those threads to assist you in the past/earlier threads You can easily find your repair manual on the internet and through E-bay if nothing else. Some folks like to use Amazon as a shopping source. Your very attempts in the past to correct anything electrical with your car has you here with tons of question..which I am not saying is a bad thing..but you need to do yourself and the car justice by acquiring the manual and printing out a copy of the schematic and have it in front of you as people try to help guide you along.. as I said, the schematic has been sent to you in reply to your posts in the past..look at your own contents to find that or sue the search feature of the website. Most folk never leave home without a road map..well the schematic is your electrical road map on your car's wiring..point A to point B is easily seen..and just as easy to follow..buy that ounce of prevention and keep it in your car...what you going to do when you out on the road and away from your computer and your car is in need of service???? busycoupe
Ed, where is parking brake light located? I have a 1948 Dodge and it does not have a parking brake warning light, but it would be handy.
Plymouthy Adams
these are usually on the dash and to the left of the steering column....some cars like the Town Sedan Special had these options as standard equipment
pflaming
This 1949 issue because it contained Churchhill's account of the air assult on London. It was a fascinating read. Inside was this full page ad. Since this thread concerns a 47 Dodge, I think ths ad should be in this thread. Read the text on why Mopar built larger cars. I hit the wrong key, 1949 as Don notes below. I found the statement that Americans were taller, discovered by the armed services, to be interesting. dodgeguy
Now this guy has me wondering ! I have a indicate light above my speedo housing I thought it was a turn signal indicator ( not working ) or High beam ( not working) help. I don't have a owners manual for my 47 d24 so still trying to figure out all the bells and whistles , just got car out storage and started driving it. Is a reproduction owners manual available? casper50
DG my 47 has the same as yours. It's a turn signal/high beam. The emergency brake indicator mentioned went somewhere else.
Niel Hoback
A single light is the high beam indicator.

Dan Hiebert
With our '48 D24, the map-light (below the radio grill and Dodge emblem, at the bottom of the dash above the ignition key) flashes when the ignition is turned on with the parking brake engaged. The single light indicator is physically similar to this one. It would not have the 2 side bulbs for the turn indicators. The front would have just a center hole with a red jewel. A bulb is mounted in the center socket which threads on to hold the whole thing in place. You could have a bad bulb, or no power from the dimmer sw. to the socket.
