I read a short article some where maybe the Old Motor Site regard the guy who did this and why. The story was related by his daughter who is I think the older kid in the picture.  He transported cars on contract for dealers in a small town in northern Michigan or Minnesota or similar and was looking for a way to make fewer more efficient trips.  I believe he was the father of that style of transport.  Lets just say this was a prototype.

So is this off topic enough to move to the off topic area? Does look like it pertains to 30's L-6 engined Plymouths. . .

Oh oh, I did not realize that there was an off topic area now. I will be sure to post correctly in the future.

John, not to worry about "off topic". So many of us have STML that we didn't even notice. "If he would have had steel he would have welded it if he had a welder" Old addage paraphrased "If we had some baon we'd have bacon and eggs if we had some eggs".

Is that a Diamond T truck or an IH or neither.

Steel would have been my choice too. I do not know the make of the truck but I am going to try to find out. I posted this photo because I felt it may interest some of the members here. I had no intention of violating any regulations which as I stated were not known to me.

Plenty of wooden bridges still in use carrying the load of semis and trains. What could destroy that set up quick is sudden stops (or starts). I'm sure the driver knew that though.

and maybe a flipped cigarette from the window of a fellow motorist..

It isn't really clear but it almost appears that the second car on the top is hanging off on the wooden ramp beyond the rear of the truck. That to me is a great deal of weight suspended there and I fully agree about the sudden stop. A lot of weight is resting on that structure. Hopefully they were successfull with their journey.

I don't see any lateral bracing, so it probably was a bit wobbly around corners too. I'll have to post this up on our office PC ;)
