Mhm Posted October 8, 2014 Report Posted October 8, 2014 Hi All! I'm new to the forum. My name is Mike and I'm from Cape Town, South Africa. Recently bought a B-series Dodge, to build a pickup from. It seems that the Van used to be a pickup originally. Will upload some pictures later. Quote
NiftyFifty Posted October 8, 2014 Report Posted October 8, 2014 Sounds interesting...welcome to the forum Quote

Mhm Posted October 9, 2014 Author Report Posted October 9, 2014 Thank you for the warm welcome! Are you a Springbok fan? Absolutely! But I'm more of a pistons and crankshafts supporter than rubgy Here are some of the picture: Quote
ruff1148kr Posted October 9, 2014 Report Posted October 9, 2014 great project and I thought that I had to scramble to find parts, or pay alot to ship them, good luck Quote
Mrbrylcreem Posted October 9, 2014 Report Posted October 9, 2014 Mike. Welcome from Durban. Cool Van. 1 Quote
plymouthcranbrook Posted October 9, 2014 Report Posted October 9, 2014 I have to say I think it looks great as a van. Very different. 1 Quote
Mhm Posted January 26, 2015 Author Report Posted January 26, 2015 Could someone point me to the location of the VIN number location on my B-series truck. I've scrapped off the paint and sanded the the area just behind the lefthand side front leafspring mount, but did not find the number stamped on the chassis rail. The truck is a righthand drive version, so I'm not sure if the location is different between the left and right hand drive versions. There are no ID plate mounted on the door pillar by the hinges either. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted January 26, 2015 Report Posted January 26, 2015 That's right about where I found mine stamped. Try cleaning back a little farther. I believe some were back over the axle more. Also, mine is on the left side, which is also the driver's side. I wonder if yours might be on the right side since it is right hand drive? Merle Quote
Brent B3B Posted January 26, 2015 Report Posted January 26, 2015 Mine is forward of the front grease fitting, towards the bumper Quote
Mrbrylcreem Posted January 26, 2015 Report Posted January 26, 2015 Mine was on the left front side of the chassis. Between the grill and the front shackle. Quote
Todd B Posted January 27, 2015 Report Posted January 27, 2015 Don't remember mine!! Welcome, cool looking truck Quote
48Dodger Posted January 27, 2015 Report Posted January 27, 2015 Nice panel truck! Haven't seen the rear door you have there before.....is it a modification? Or is it something common on the panels from South Africa? 48D Quote
Mhm Posted January 27, 2015 Author Report Posted January 27, 2015 Thanx Guys! I'll clean more paint towards the bumper and the axle in search of the number. Quote
Mhm Posted January 27, 2015 Author Report Posted January 27, 2015 Nice panel truck! Haven't seen the rear door you have there before.....is it a modification? Or is it something common on the panels from South Africa? 48D This 'Van' was actually a pickup originally. It looks like someone at some stage in it's life, cut the back section of the cab off, moved it to the rear and filled up the bit inbetween. If you have a good look at the back you can see the indents that is normally on the back of the cab as well as the fuel filler opening. The plan is to convert it back into a pickup. Quote
48Dodger Posted January 27, 2015 Report Posted January 27, 2015 Guess I could have paid closer attention to what you wrote in the first post...lol. You know me....I like pictures...who has time to read?? 48D Quote
pflaming Posted January 27, 2015 Report Posted January 27, 2015 48, that lady friend taking up so much of your time, you can't read the forum? I'm beginning to get worried. LOL Quote
Mhm Posted January 29, 2015 Author Report Posted January 29, 2015 Found the VIN on the Dodgy B, just to the front of the left leaf spring front bracket! From a VIN decoder I found online this seems to be a '48 B1B. Would be interested to know how it managed to find it's way to South Africa. Thanx for everyone's help on this little issue. Now to find the title... Quote
ggdad1951 Posted January 29, 2015 Report Posted January 29, 2015 I wonder if it didn't find it's way there thru military services? Quote
