Hi All!

I'm new to the forum.

My name is Mike and I'm from Cape Town, South Africa.

Recently bought a B-series Dodge, to build a pickup from.

It seems that the Van used to be a pickup originally.

Will upload some pictures later.

Thank you for the warm welcome!

Are you a Springbok fan?

Absolutely!

But I'm more of a pistons and crankshafts supporter than rubgy :D

Here are some of the picture:

Could someone point me to the location of the VIN number location on my B-series truck.

I've scrapped off the paint and sanded the the area just behind the lefthand side front leafspring mount, but did not find the number stamped on the chassis rail.

The truck is a righthand drive version, so I'm not sure if the location is different between the left and right hand drive versions.

There are no ID plate mounted on the door pillar by the hinges either.

That's right about where I found mine stamped. Try cleaning back a little farther. I believe some were back over the axle more. Also, mine is on the left side, which is also the driver's side. I wonder if yours might be on the right side since it is right hand drive?

Mine is forward of the front grease fitting, towards the bumper

Nice panel truck!

Haven't seen the rear door you have there before.....is it a modification? Or is it something common on the panels from South Africa?

Thanx Guys!

I'll clean more paint towards the bumper and the axle in search of the number.

This 'Van' was actually a pickup originally.

It looks like someone at some stage in it's life, cut the back section of the cab off, moved it to the rear and filled up the bit inbetween.

If you have a good look at the back you can see the indents that is normally on the back of the cab as well as the fuel filler opening.

The plan is to convert it back into a pickup.

48, that lady friend taking up so much of your time, you can't read the forum? I'm beginning to get worried. LOL

Found the VIN on the Dodgy B, just to the front of the left leaf spring front bracket!

From a VIN decoder I found online this seems to be a '48 B1B.

Would be interested to know how it managed to find it's way to South Africa.

Thanx for everyone's help on this little issue.

Now to find the title...

I wonder if it didn't find it's way there thru military services?
