42 Desoto 7 passenger in need of some restoration. Some floor rust but not so far gone that it couldn't be fixed. The unique stuff to the 7 passenger all seemed to be there.

Great photos, and great job on cleaning up with the trophies guys. I liked that yellow route van too - I trust that we will see him here on the forum soon! So Merle and the Pope are mates hey?

I think Merle knows Batman, but won't admit it...maybe he IS Batman?

I've tried to get the Route Van guy here but.....doesn't seem to be that interested yet.  Nice guy tho.

Yes I agree. My truck will do 60-65 and I'd still not want to ride that many miles in it.

We made it home today. 13 hour drive there on Wednesday and we did it in 13 today coming home, so pretty consistent. The car ran great with no problems. We drove just under 1500 miles on the trip. The DeSoto seemed to average around 17 mpg at 60 to 65 mph. We took 3rd place in our class and won the farthest driven pre war car award. We had a great time and the time went way too fast. Monday is back to reality now...

The best part was getting to meet and talk to new people. It is always nice to have a face to put with a name on here!

Yes, WPC 2014 in Auburn Hills/Pontiac, MI. Currently planned for the week of July 8-12

POC meet is in Port Huron later in the summer as I understand it.

2015 WPC will be in Springfield, IL

sounds like maybe there should have been some planning and a joint meet like the one that just ended. The POC meet is in the same area the 23-26th.

OK soooo who has a big garage in the Detroit / Pt Huron area???  Sounds like it might be a good idea to drive in for the WPC, leave the car somewhere in the area for the POC meet.  If you don't have one and you always wanted one now is the time to start building that Big A$$ shop you always wanted.....

I think the WPC wasn't all that fond of jont meet overall.  I thought it brought more people and cars,  but it seemed the crowd wasn't in favor of a joint meet, with the Desoto club at least, as much as th efew that were...who knows.  Logisitics between two loosly run organisations can be a Ferd to organize I'm sure.  I was odd being the second youngest (I assume) in a room of that many people.  I think clubs like the WPC are in trouble....no new blood...

Same goes with the POC, its getting older and greyer every year.  I would think combining two clubs is like herding cats, and probably all activities should not be combined but certainly tours and road trips could be co mingled.   Judging for the two clubs is diametrically opposed with WPC doing participent selections, and POC filling in detailed score cards with pictures and circles and arrows and paragraphs on the back of each one, splaining what the arrows and circles mean.

I did put a post on the POC board regarding the possibility of a combined event next year as it would make it easier logistically to attend both events from away.
