Mark D Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 Interesting photos. Old man looks pretty proud. Maybe it was he that he walked away? Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 If you look at the position of the steering wheel in photo #2 if the driver walked away he was shorter than the guy in the picture. Quote
Daliant. Posted May 16, 2013 Report Posted May 16, 2013 usually when you see sheets covering the windows means they were covering up pretty gruesome mess inside. I doubt the driver walked away, most likely got his head taken off by the steering wheel. Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 16, 2013 Report Posted May 16, 2013 Is that a shiverlay truck next door? Quote
48Dodger Posted May 16, 2013 Report Posted May 16, 2013 My guess is: The driver of this car was involved in criminal activity. There was a chase with a squad car. The windshield is not broken, suggesting a tear away of body panels first, followed by an impact to the front suspension. This would suggest an impact to a parked semi trailer or boxcar. The driver died from the impact. ( the window blanket) The gentleman in the picture is a detective. (the badge on the belt) The chase made the local papers and a photographer said "Hey Joe! Get in da picture!" So Joe the Detective reluctantly stands next to the wrecked vehicle, like a its a trophy, all the while knowing, it was the beat cops score and should really be the ones in the picture. 48D 2 Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 16, 2013 Report Posted May 16, 2013 Two tone paint job. Is this a cop car? Quote
48Dodger Posted May 16, 2013 Report Posted May 16, 2013 No lights, no markings...I'm sticking to ma story. 48D Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 16, 2013 Report Posted May 16, 2013 mobile meth lab, was cooking a batch while rolling around the streets of the city using the exhaust manifold as a heat source.. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 17, 2013 Report Posted May 17, 2013 Is that a bullet hole in the lower corner of the driver's side windshield?? Don, that does look like a Chevy or GMC truck next to the Plym. Sure hit hard..........bent up the suspension, etc......the driveshaft is lying across the front of the car, and the front bumper appears to be in two pieces. Plus numerous other things. Quote
Mark D Posted May 17, 2013 Author Report Posted May 17, 2013 WELL DONE! never noticed the badge on the belt until you pointed it out. Plymouthy Adams Posted May 17, 2013 Report Posted May 17, 2013 driveshaft is out and laying across the front of the car..does not appear damaged either ??? Quote
Daliant. Posted May 18, 2013 Report Posted May 18, 2013 The tow truck driver probably unbolted the shaft so he could haul the car away, the one side looks good but the other side looks like it's missing the end, most likely broke when the engine got shoved up and back. Quote

Desotodav Posted July 15, 2013 Report Posted July 15, 2013 Must have hit something pretty solid (for both photos). I see new cars smashed in like that these days and ask the driver's if they hit a moth. They don't make 'em like they use to !!! Quote

Young Ed Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 airbags deploy on the F150? I don't believe so. It was a side impact in the box. Quote
Mark D Posted July 16, 2013 Author Report Posted July 16, 2013 OUCH! My tow cost more than that..... Quote
Mark D Posted July 20, 2013 Author Report Posted July 20, 2013 I find these old wreck photos fascinating. Looks to be a dodge in this one. Quote
greg g Posted July 22, 2013 Report Posted July 22, 2013 Lotta good that fancy grill guard did on the Dodge. Look how much the front bumper moved and sprang back. There is a cut i the tire shaped just like the end of the bumper. Probably taken o some roving reporter's Speed Graphic camera. Quote
Mark D Posted July 22, 2013 Author Report Posted July 22, 2013 I just noticed there's a Mass plate on the lead car.. Quote
Mark D Posted July 24, 2013 Author Report Posted July 24, 2013 (edited) Is this a plymouth.... Plymouths never had chrome trim around the windows. Says Chrysler on the hubcaps. Edited July 24, 2013 by Mark D Quote
