Husker Posted September 6, 2013 Author Report Posted September 6, 2013 Keven did these for me. I get a lot of compliments. Always nice to find another Huskers fan. that stuff is flat cool! Quote
ggdad1951 Posted September 6, 2013 Report Posted September 6, 2013 (edited) do a search on the forum for the window stuff, they've been discussed plenty and there are a few tricks (the adjustment nut behind the door panel for one)you might need to use to get things happy. Look up the exploded views on the DPETCA website inthe parts manuals, that should help as well. Edited September 6, 2013 by ggdad1951 Quote
Husker Posted September 7, 2013 Author Report Posted September 7, 2013 So I got the bumpers and the sun visor today. Short the interior door handles and a window crank. I am going to look for a stock bench seat this weekend, not a big fan of the buckets and I want to be able to drag a couple of my grand kids around at a time. I will search the site, thanks for the tips! Quote
Husker Posted September 21, 2013 Author Report Posted September 21, 2013 I do late model repairable vehicles on the side, been building for 30 years so I don't spend as much time on the old truck as I would like to. Hoping to play around with the old girl a bit this weekend. Quote
Husker Posted April 16, 2014 Author Report Posted April 16, 2014 Starting to work on the old girl now. Anyone know what fits for a bench seat? Quote
pflaming Posted April 16, 2014 Report Posted April 16, 2014 I put the rear seats of an 87 T-Bird in mine. Find a Continental of the same time and get leather. It's a very easy mount. Quote
Husker Posted April 18, 2014 Author Report Posted April 18, 2014 (edited) Here is my 51 Dodge if anyone is interested. Edited April 18, 2014 by Husker Quote
Husker Posted April 19, 2014 Author Report Posted April 19, 2014 She spent her first 49 years in Southern California. Nice rust free body with a OK paint job in the most puke green color lol! I has a Schwinn bike that color when I was 10 and have shied away from green ever since. Quote
pflaming Posted April 20, 2014 Report Posted April 20, 2014 I showed this picture to Chloe and she immediately said, "That truck was NOT at the BBQ!" Very interesting how much kids see and remember. They still talk about the weekend. Quote
Jerry Roberts Posted April 20, 2014 Report Posted April 20, 2014 Nice looking truck . I like the pitched roofs on the homes in the photos . On a flat roof , one little hole the diameter of a pencil can cause a lot of water damage . Quote

Personally I miss walking out the door of the house to my garage and can not wait till our new home is built so I can have a shop again. Quote
Husker Posted April 20, 2014 Author Report Posted April 20, 2014 So I took the truck out for a drive yesterday for the first time as I have had it sitting at a buddies house since last fall. I have some work to do to get it road worthy as she likes to wonder. She has the stock suspension underneath and was dropped old school so there is no ride at all. I want to put around with her this summer so I need to fix the steering right away. On a positive note the old 302 runs great! Quote
Husker Posted April 23, 2014 Author Report Posted April 23, 2014 I need a smaller wheel in this thing, any ideas what I need for an adaptor to fit an aftermarket wheel? Quote
B1B Keven Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 So why is the truck for sale? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1951-Dodge-Truck-/301161393356?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item461e9e2ccc 1 Quote
Husker Posted April 23, 2014 Author Report Posted April 23, 2014 I have this crazy idea that I want a Harley. If it sells OK, if not I will continue to tinker with it. Having trouble finding a steering wheel adapter for it so I can put a decent wheel on it. I hate that huge on that is in it. Quote
Husker Posted April 23, 2014 Author Report Posted April 23, 2014 I did crawl under the truck today to check out the suspension. It all looks stock but I suspect they may have pulled a spring. It has 3 leafs in the front that look awfully small for a truck. The frame looks great so if I don't get my $4500 I have in it I will get it so it is roadworthy and drive it this summer and do some suspension upgrades this winter. I need a inside window crank and 2 inside door handles, anyone have anything cheap? Quote
Husker Posted April 23, 2014 Author Report Posted April 23, 2014 Looking on Ebay for parts and I see a set of the springs on a 51 that match mine. I learned something new today! Quote
HanksB3B Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 A Harley would look great in the back of your truck..just have to figure out how to tether it down. Hank Quote
Merle Coggins Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 Harleys are like dogs... they like to mark their territory and ride in the back of pickups. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 most of them Harleys also have a bigger bark than their bite..getting creamed by a small CC J-bike..speed and handling..stylish and on top of that a fraction of the cost plus longer MTBF Quote
B1B Keven Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 Husker, don't you also need outside door handles? A Harley might get out performed by a smaller CC bike, but nothing has the 'cool' factor that a Harley or Indian have. Quote

But in my opinion I view Harleys more cult than cool. Too many accessories. Everybody buys the same chrome stuff. And I don't understand what the turn on is with buying your lady friend a Harley nighty. Quote
