The tach guts came from http://www.westach.com/ they make several varieties of 6 v tachs. Then Mark Clawson, the guage restorer, built a brass case for the tach (the one that comes with it is plastic), and fit it to the old speedo case. It was quite the process. He also made the pointer, he tried to use the old pointer, but he said he couldn't get it to balance on the tach correctly. He did say the tach is very sensitive. I sure like the look if the whole cluster.

Dolly, when I got my new gauges for Keven, I did the same thing, just had to see them in the dash. To me the old restored gauges are like putting the correct frame around a picture. I too like that tach but I suspect that took a couple lottery tickets. Also enjoying your progress.

edit: and the back is slowly improving, I can now pull up my fly without any pain!

Yea Paul I think you'd better put your "Garage Improvement" plans on hold for a while old boy.

Sorry I know I'm bad but I couldn't resist,

Attached are two pictures, one was taken during the rebuild, and you can see what the Westach tack looked like and its plastic case, the other shows the backside of the tach after it was completed, with the nice brass case.

I did spend a lot of money on the guages, but I when I started the project I said to myself there were two things I wanted to fix really nice, one was the gauges, and the other the engine. I don't have funds to do the whole truck really nice, but when I am done, it will be a servicable vehicle that is mechanically sound, that is my goal.

Makes me wish my 39-47 trucks had a spot that could be converted to a tach!

These are beauties (including Hank's contribution). I'd like to do the same thing with the tach conversion.

I'm thinking I might want the tach on the speedo side and put the speedo where the speaker is.

Lookin' good!

Hank, for an English teacher to be caught on a spelling mishap is not cool! One might even call it "techy" :D:D
