John-T-53 Posted July 25, 2012 Report Posted July 25, 2012 This one has a borg warner OD in it! They left out that important detail in the description. See the last pic. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 25, 2012 Report Posted July 25, 2012 nice loooking truck..I think I would have done a little two toning on the tailgate but that is just me... Quote
Dave72dt Posted July 25, 2012 Report Posted July 25, 2012 More than just you Tim. I would have, too. Quote

It looks slightly familiar but I think I've just seen it forsale elsewhere. I don't think I've seen it in person. Quote
Scruffy49 Posted July 26, 2012 Report Posted July 26, 2012 Wouldn't a real Spring Special have the roof the same color as the rest? And I could have sworn they weren't available until the 51 up series... The builder did make a really nice start on his clone though. Quote

I believe the roof paint would be the same as the lower body color as part of the factory Spring Special option. I think the originals were only available in two shades of green. This is not a Spring Special - but a nice truck with a two-tone paint job. Quote

Scruffy49 Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 Yeah, but that truck had a cream color break. I've seen it, used to spend a ton of time in the Spokane Valley when I had Harleys 20 years ago. Quote
JBNeal Posted July 31, 2012 Report Posted July 31, 2012 I found this awhile back that confirmed some info in Bunn's books...that one pic appears to show the black grille bars that Bunn wrote about for the '50 Spring Special he found...I didn't believe it at first glance, but after I thought about it for a good while, it made sense since Dodge had the park lamp doors painted black for '48-'50. Wouldn't a real Spring Special have the roof the same color as the rest? Plymouthy Adams Posted July 31, 2012 Report Posted July 31, 2012 the truck did not meet reserve with 31 bids.. Quote
dmulhall Posted July 31, 2012 Report Posted July 31, 2012 hard to criticize such a beautiful truck.. but if I were to make one, he could have cleaned up the engine compartment a little (considering it has had some miles on it and it gets used) not a big deal..but looks a little messy Quote
