Desotodav Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 Good on ya Tim! I sent a picture of that old bus of Chris's to my Mum to see what she thought of it and she reckoned that I should buy it, bring it to Oz and restore it. I think that I'd have all sorts of dramas with it here in Oz as the door to allow passenger access is on the wrong side (for us). My oldies already have 40 or so buses of their own anyway, so I don't think that they really need another one! Please keep us (me) updated with what you get up to with the old bus. That old bus of yours looks alright too Bob. Desotodav Quote
ggdad1951 Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 Alright all you potential buyers.....Chris is pulling the ad and giving me a chance to figure out how to buy it......wish me luck. I know it'll be a happy camper with all the other retired trucks. Not to mention it'll put a smile on my face too. Thank god I love top ramen. 48D good job! Can't wait till you have it redone! I give ya 2 years! Quote
Young Ed Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 ah, the little sister state with the Marsha complex....so sad, at least our college mascot isn't a skunk in a popcorn box....don't make me post that picture again.... Haha comparing a badger to a gopher this cracks me up!!!!!! Quote
Jeff Balazs Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 Couldn't go to a better home... Hank Was there ever any doubt where this bus would wind up? They belong together. It will make a very cool Salt Flats rig. Wonder how long it will take to become "The Worlds Fastest Pilothouse Bus" ? Don't know if any of you remember a LSR from the 60's called the Goldenrod. Got to sit in it once......must have been a mile long. As I remember it had four 440's in it. For a time it was the fastest piston engined car in the world. Perhaps Tim can come up a fitting arrangement for the bus. Jeff Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 ..in part...I'd have all sorts of dramas with it here in Oz as the door to allow passenger access is on the wrong side (for us) quick fix for that mate...drive in reverse.. Quote
HanksB3B Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 Did anyone see a TV show featuring restoration of John Force's School Bus Restoration? When they presented it to him he got all Blubbery..it was very cool to watch. Hank P.S. I looked closely at the wheels. I'm pretty sure they say Dodge on his Ford bus. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 (edited) I saw that episode of Overhaulin'. Yes, the wheel caps say "Foose". They are a one off Foose design wheel. And the school district name on the side is from where he attended school as a kid. That's one hot rod bus. It was a wreck, but solid, when they started. It's amazing what they can do in a week with enough talented guys working on it. If I remember right I think they even had special hood side badges made incorporating "Force" in there somehow. HanksB3B Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 That was a long time ago. You even thought they were Dodge hubcaps too. I wanted to know what number post of mine was and realized that your post counter shows your current number even on old posts. Huh, Hank Quote
Young Ed Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 That was a long time ago. You even thought they were Dodge hubcaps too. Yup I noticed that. Guess I learned my lesson! Quote
HanksB3B Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 Tim, if you are really buying this, do you have a vision? Hank Quote
48Dodger Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 You guys crack me up...lol...."2 years"??? Can it be 3 years, please....??? lol My plans????? Well.....I called Chris again, he really wants me to take a closer look at it....I called Jim Shepard...he's up for a road trip, so we're headin out 8:30 am to check it out. For those of you who don't know, I've worked the graveyard shift for 15 years now, so 8:30 am is after work for me. Mr. Retirement (jim) will probably have been pacing back and forth since 5:00am before I pick him up...lol. This is what I know so far: late 60's 318, push button tranny, original front suspension intact, might be a 1 ton set-up, ex-hippy ride, and prefers Oakland A's stickers, so that part kinda works out for me. What will I do with it? Would love to make it a part of the BBQ experience...no ideas yet. Bonneville? Could do that, but was thinking my 48 Panel would fill that roll, but really, a bus on the flats woud be awesome. 48D Quote
HanksB3B Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 Tim, Your next BBQ? As long as it's not this one! (Who knows what this is?) Hank Quote
Jeff Balazs Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 Hank; Tim, if you are really buying this, do you have a vision? Oh come on Hank.....don't tell me you couldn't see this coming? When I first saw this bus a while back I thought of trying to get a bet going. But I just figured no one here would take a sucker bet. It was never if....... I expect it will make it to Bonneville. Young Ed Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 Tim, As long as it's not this one! (Who knows what this is?) Hank Hank I think thats an old school bus. Looks abandoned in the desert or something. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 Hank I think thats an old school bus. Looks abandoned in the desert or something. Maybe the bus broke down on a class field trip. The class was never heard from again. Quote
Young Ed Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 Maybe the bus broke down on a class field trip. The class was never heard from again. Thats why they invented permission slips! Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 if this is a one way trip out of the country for these guys I will donate for some fuel to get the second load... Quote
HanksB3B Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 Hank I think thats an old school bus. Looks abandoned in the desert or something. Close (and obvious too) o.k. a clue or two: It's who abandoned this bus that is what makes it infamous. Hank Quote
