Merle Coggins Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 Interesting wiper arms. I wonder where they came from? Merle Quote
ggdad1951 Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 (edited) grill seems off compared to my '51 (maybe a replacement?) and I like the bolts THRU the DODGE nose emblem. Also whomever painted it, painted over all the rubber . Steering wheel needs adjustment as well. Radio antenna, but a radio delete plate. But not a bad video. nj viking Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 582 million people in a hurry to get somewhere. not a one of them in that video... try diving the turnpike or parkway then report back on that. Hell that road only had 2 lanes; a rarity in itself around here. Like the truck though. Viking Quote

Todd B Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 I thought the truck and video was very cool and I enjoyed watching it. Most of the things you guys noticed wrong is just reality. Back in the day when something broke you just fixed it yourself, you made due with what you had. The screws through the emblem was a clever way to keep it on. Todd B Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 It's good to just see a daily driver some what fixed up and maintained-not a under used over restored truck. A very good vid too. Quote
Young Ed Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 Good video and a nice driver quality truck that you can enjoy and still get some work out of. However he's a little off on a couple facts- job rated trucks are 39-47 and I've never heard it called a lighthouse cab. Also disappointing he doesn't even mention the most unique feature of his truck-fluid drive! Quote
Mark D Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 Seemed like he was doing an aweful lot of shifting in the video... I wonder if the original tranny was changed out for three speed? Quote
Reg Evans Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 This guy needs to find our forum. Definitely a rookie when it comes to Pilothouse trucks. Eventually he'll learn that he doesn't need his left foot to start the truck....Heel toe....heel toe. From his description of the brakes it sounds like he needs a major brake adjustment. Nice hood ornament ! Yeah....no mention of the fluid drive. Quote

I don't have a functional throttle cable though. Quote
Don Coatney Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 Also disappointing he doesn't even mention the most unique feature of his truck-fluid drive! My guess is this guy did not know what fluid drive is nor how it works. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 Seemed like he was doing an aweful lot of shifting in the video... I wonder if the original tranny was changed out for three speed? It is still a standard 3 speed, but with Fluid Drive, so he still would have to shift through the gears. The advantage is that he could lug it down without stalling the engine, or leave it in 2nd gear without depressing the clutch at stops, then release the brake and drive away. However he'd still need to shift up to 3rd as needed. I also noticed the FD emblem without any mention of it, and that he called it a lighthouse cab. Maybe we need to make a comment on his video to come check us out. Merle Quote

Reg Evans Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 I think we should invite him to join us as long as he wears his pants. Quote
ggdad1951 Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 nice yr-old video, couldn't help but blurt out "greenhorn" when he used both feet to get'r started...if he thinks that 1/2 ton Fluid Drive "handles like a truck", kinda makes me wonder how he'd handle a 1-ton spur-gear 4spd...the duct tape on the horn ring looks similar to the repair on my Spring Special I'll soon be able to tell ya...gimme a few months! 48Dodger Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 Good video and a nice driver quality truck that you can enjoy and still get some work out of. However he's a little off on a couple facts- job rated trucks are 39-47 and I've never heard it called a lighthouse cab. Also disappointing he doesn't even mention the most unique feature of his truck-fluid drive! Good video. I felt his working knowledge of the truck was in general terms applied to all trucks of that era...not his dodge. I'm betting his real interest is in film and video. Would love to re-edit with better info and some of his humor. 48D Quote
Don Coatney Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 Has anyone contacted this guy yet? I tried to but one must be a you-tube member to do so and I am not a member. Quote

Merle Coggins Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 I found the same hitch. I would imagine you just have to set up an account, but I didn't want to do that right now. Merle Quote
