OT. Sunny California vs Pacific Northwest!

Just got back from sunny California and it nice to be back in the Pacific Northwest where rain coats is a must! Checked out my old Dodge and it started right up! Nice to finally have it up and running like a good old piece of iron should. Mist this site as I always enjoy the different problems that come up on our old friends (Cars).:D

Yesterday, we experienced a high of 56 degrees at 1:30, my brother and I attended a basketball game at SU and as were leaving the the time and temp deal at 9:10 indicated 27 out sided. So nearly a -30 change but most of the change occured over about an hour at sunset. Needless to say, folks were still driving like it was warm, but they seemed to forget that all the melted snow that draied into the roads fromthe snowbanks was now ice. the News this morning mentioned that police responded to over 400 calls due to vehicle accidents last night. There were probably more that went unreported.

Now we are supposed to be back up into the 40's and 50's over the next few days.

So I guess when it gets cold again, we can look forward to a bunch of wrecked rental cars....

...Hi Jon,Good to hear you enjoyed sunny California and that you are now rested and back on familiar turf...You mention that you "mist" the mist and the rain, not to mention your rain gear... I can picture everything around you is nice and green, along with some stationary objects facing north laden with moss.;) .Glad to hear your car started up okay.:)

Hey the question should now be how much snow do you have now. Im on the coast across from you Ruth1932 and I hear you might have a bunch if you dont have some already. Do you remember what that large bright orb in the sky looks like? Im having a hard time remembering.

I think they call that thing the "sun" (not sure of the spelling or pronounciation this far into winter). I hear old wives' tales that it brings warmth and brightness to the land. I think I saw it yesterday - since Lake Erie is finally frozen over and hasn't contributed to the cloud cover for a while.....

Those of us who work long hours in the computer business have heard rumors of "the day star" which is supposed to so bright that it blots out all other stars from the sky. So bright that the light bouncing around in the atmosphere makes the sky look blue. Hard to imagine that. I guess I should take a break during office hours and find a window or go outside to see if it exists.

I too live in the IT world. I remember something as you describe but can only see it from afar. I am changing to another job with better windows but being in Oregon I still dont expect to see the bright one (for any real length of time) till June.

You guys are too funny.....

Don't want to rub it in, but I work outside in SUNNY southern California & see that "thing" nearly everyday & it's still working most of the time. It kinda looks like this>>>>>:) except for the eyes & mouth.
