Fireball Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 IT'S ALIIIIVE!!! Finally... after year and seven months of rebuild I was able to drive it out of the garage for the first time. As most of you guys know, all except the seat is done by me, that's why the result is what it is The new engine sounds like it should, no leaks and I have even brakes. I used 18 squarefeet of sheetmetal for rust repairs, that bad it was. Did all the paintings, drivetrain assemblies and such alone, there were many times when a helping hand was needed though. Now it's time for the final details, and get it registrated then hit the road. I'd really like to see a rear bumper there, but haven't still located one yet. If somebody knows where that front bumper is from, please give a hint. It ain't stock, I bought it from ebay and was told it's from plymouth of this era but it is not. I'd like to get a matching rear obviously COMMENTS PLEASE, also those guys who doesn't like it or something on it, shout it out loud this is not so serious. I value different views, really. Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 Congratulations 'Ball! The Coop looks stunning. It turned out a resto rod, if you do not mind me categorizing your creation. Amazing quality of craftsmanship. Let's hope for long sunny summer! /Pekka Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 its a beaut..your patience has long paid for itself..I am awaiting the performance report of the 3.9 you did good..! Quote
1940plymouth Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 Congrats, looks STUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
greg g Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 Very nice!!! How does the V6 do pulling it down the road. I know those engines in their original omes were quite the sleeper. Quote
Flatie46 Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 Great job! You've got some skills for sure. I was looking at it and my daughter gave her opinion, she said it was "neat and the seat looks really comfy". Got that 50's era look up and down, you should be proud. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 That is just beautiful. The V-6 install is very cool. The talent on this forum amazes me. Probably because I am a klutz. Quote
Fireball Posted April 10, 2010 Author Report Posted April 10, 2010 Thanks for the thumbs up everybody, I'm almost pleased myself too. But you know when you do so much, not everything goes like planned. There are couple of things I'd do differently now but this is enough. greg I don't know, I didn't take her too far since it's not legally "ready" yet, it's not tagged. My best friend is a cop, and when he comes over I'll give him an illegal ride. That way I can quarantee not to get punished by his co-workers? Quote
LAKOTA169 Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 THAT I like. Not too radical, but enough change to make it stand out. I do agree about the rear bumper. Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 A question: The skirts - are they from Big Jim's Texas? I got me a pair which I have not yet mounted (plan to do it when I paint the car) Were there troubles fitting them in? Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 Now thats a "BIG butt" Dodge! Nice work. Quote
james curl Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 For a street rod well done, nice car. Quote
Fireball Posted April 10, 2010 Author Report Posted April 10, 2010 A question:The skirts - are they from Big Jim's Texas? I got me a pair which I have not yet mounted (plan to do it when I paint the car) Were there troubles fitting them in? Jim actually passed away before I got these, but yes I got them from him. They fit ok. Most likely if I keep the car I will make cruiser skirts with the flow that I like Quote
thrashingcows Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 I like it too, and my 9 year old daughter said she likes the paint, and the steering wheel... Quote
daddyo23 Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 Very good job. Looks cool. Wish I had the talent like that for body and paint. You should be proud of your work. Quote
Oldguy48 Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 Wow...The car looks great. Must have been quite a thrill to take it on it's maiden voyage. I'll bet you're still grinnin' Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 EXCELLENT! I can't tell what the front bumper is - looks like it "could be" from a Plymouth, but then again, maybe not. Drive it and enjoy. Quote
Greenbomb Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 Definitely cool! I like it! The back is slick as is, but I'd probably opt for a rear bumper, too. I'm thinking the front bumper might be from a '50 (or so) Ford. Maybe. Or not. Quote
jd52cranbrook Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 Ok you asked from your first post for comments.... The car is awesome,,,,,, But did Dodge come out with a OEM sun visor? I ran a Fultons like yours until I found a oem one for my plymouth... That's just a thought, but man that car looks good. Quote
T120 Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 Your car looks great,Fireball...Nice work. The front bumper looks like it could be from a 49 Mercury. Quote
Fireball Posted April 11, 2010 Author Report Posted April 11, 2010 hey Ralph thanks, you could be right it sure looks like that one Quote
