Here's a link to a thread about the Columbus Good Guys show this past July. Quite a few pictures. I may not always

agree with some of those builders ideas, but it seems there are always a few nifty things included that I do like.

A lot of imagination on peoples part is displayed. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=426184

Hum; Wonder if that headliner would blow off same as my headliner did? Wonder if the car owner cares? Might be time for me to start collecting some new uncirculated headliner material:cool: Anyone have any they want to donate to me?

Don not quite the girl appeal but I've got a pile of old hot rodder car craft etc

Yea what about when the back seat is being used at the drive in????

Drive in? Haven't seen or been to one of those for many a moon now. I think they are all gone by now. Last movie I saw at one was the Blob.

All the drive in theaters around here have been gone for years. That was due to the land becoming too valuable, then the property taxes rose with that, making it hard for them to make a profit. Use to have a twin drive in about 5 miles from me years ago. Now, it's part of an industrial park. There are a few left in the state though. But.......they are at least 50 or 60 miles or more away from here.

We have the Route 66 drive-in theater about 15 miles from here at Carthage, MO.

Another one about 50 miles in Aurora, MO...the Sunset Drive-in.

Of course, these days, you have to tune in the sound on your car radio.

neat picture BobT we use to have a show like that at the local drive in...but

i don't think they do it any more:( plus it's rumored the old drive in's days are numbered....

Every year the Back to the 50s includes a free drive in movie. I took Carmon there in 07 to see Kung Fu Panda and American Grafetti. I believe its 1 of 2 operating drive ins around mpls st paul area.

Bob,

Passed through Joplin day after Thanksgiving on my way home from Springfield. Noticed that Joplin had lost one of their drive-ins as the old Mini Art is now all grown over with scrub brush.

That was a rather unique drive-in. Each car had its own individual screen and they were arranged in a big circle around the central projection house. They screened nothing but shall we say Adult movies when I lived there.

Hi Kirk.

The old Mini Art theater has been out of business for many years, maybe back to

late 70s or the 80s best I can recall.

Yes, it did show adult type movies. There was another drive-in made exactly

the same way up in Buffalo, MO (north of Springfield) but it showed regular

movies. I think they were both built by the same fellow.

The Rt 66 theater at Carthage was actually closed several years ago and the

property was used as an auto salvage. The screen was left in place. Then

the current owner returned it to being a theater.

This is the place they filmed one segment of The Great American Road Trip earlier

this year......it aired in July. Cars provided by area owners were used to create a

maze, thru which family members guided the blindfolded father. He had to go

back by the concession stand, pick up a tray of popcorn and soda pop, and return

it to the front.

Our reward for providing cars was basically a free catered lunch in the

nearby city park and time to lounge on a nice air conditioned bus while

waiting for the filming to be completed.
