greg g Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 Member Mark A from St Louis entered he recently completed 47 P15 Sedan in the POC meet in Westminster Md. The car scored enough points to garner a second place in class on its first outing. Mark's car sports split intake and exhaust but is otherwise a pretty stock appearing p15. Nice job buddy. (do i detect subtle cracks in the dam/) Conratulations my friend!! Here is mark looking for the 1/2 point chassis deduction. One more of the car which has been under construction since the Charlotte meet 2 years ago. Don't know if the hood latch cup is OEM. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 The only one time I didn't win 1st place, I sure was mad and acting like a 2 year old! Lets get to perfection and to heck with just having fun with our old cars! OH boy---I'm now worried about if my oil filter and DPCD bolts are correct? This hobby is driving me nuts!!!! Bob Quote
Don Coatney Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 There is a legal limitation on how much fun you guys are allowed to have in my absence. You are close to exceeding that limit. STOP having fun NOW:confused: Quote
T120 Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 Hi Greg,What is Mark using for air filters on his dual carb setup? Quote
Tony Cipponeri Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 The 2007 spring meet hosted by the Golden State Region, had a modified class. We weren't allowed to park them with the rest of the cars, and we had to buy the trophies with our money. That was a first at a POC meet. Tony c Quote
Jim Saraceno Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 Congratulations Mark! Way to go! Hey will you be back in town next week? I'm planning on bringing Bluebelle to the car show in Sunset Hills this weekend. If you think you'll be there, lets get together. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 I've said it before and will say it again..there is a place for both stock and modified..if it were not for the guy going somwhat modified now and then the sources for parts to keep them stock in appearance/function would be farther and fewer between..I think it is a grand jesture to have included his car and even better that he garnered enough points to place... Chester Brzostowski Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 Hi Mark & Congratulations, It was nice meeting you at the POC meet. Your car is a beauty. I said POC meet rather then car show because besides myself and a few stragglers there didn’t seem to be any other visitors. Actually maybe only parking for about 20 visitors and the lot wasn’t full. This was the first POC National meet I have attended and I wasn’t very impressed. Of course the cars that were there were all great Plymouths in their own right but as far as car shows go very unattended. Of course the beer festival that Greg & I attended in the afternoon was a lot livelier but the 5 police cars at the entrance & exits weigh heavily on my mind especially for my solo exit. It is hard to be the designated driver at a beer festival when you are the only one in the car. My Favorite Car: 1928 Touring Car Well anyway congrds, Chet… Quote
steveplym Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 Congrats Mark. That car sure is a beauty! I hope to see it in person some day. Quote
P15Mike Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 Way to go on your 2nd place finish ! It was well deserved , very nice looking car you have there after seeing it in person . Also , Greg is misinformed on the pic with Mark looking for his 1/2 pont dedection . I have it on good authority the he's still looking for his beer from friday night ... . Great looking car , have fun driving it ! Mike Quote
1949P17BC Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 Greg, thanks for the pictures.. You are right, two years ago at the North Carolina Meet, after a few bottles of courage I stated i would build a modified car and enter it in the stock POC judging and try and get a Third Place. Boy was I surprised with a Second!. Just for the record, I have made the following changes that cost me a few points, twin carbs, dual exhaust, radial tires, OD, modern drive shaft, carpet, tinted windows and regrained interior trim (not quite an exact match). What I did get a lot of points for, matching engine number, correct wiring (ignition and electrical) body work, paint (original color aviator blue), chrome, correct seat material and colors, door sill plates, door and fender fit and gaps. I have to agree with Chet, not a huge turnout of cars. Which is disappointing because there are so members living within a couple of hours (both POC and P15-D24). Greg and I have and will continue to have a great time hosting "those tailgaters are still out there parties" Thanks to all Quote

Normspeed Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 Hmmm, I wonder if I could fit in that class H-1, with my 4.10 and Overdrive? I think my wagon could kick some serious butt on a hill climb in second gear OD. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 Congratulations, Mark. You may have posted pics before, and I missed them......how about a side view and an interior shot?? Maybe I'll get to see it someday. Quote
UKPlymouth Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 Mark, Is aviator blue a metallic? I have a RHD 4 door imported from South Africa and am trying to find out the colour. I know it's original as I have seen a two door in the same colour. Your lovely car looks the same but the view / lighting isn't brilliant so it is difficult to see. Quote
Furylee2 Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 Here is Mark getting his trophy. BTW, thanks for the dash plaque. Lee Quote
1949P17BC Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 All, after the POC meet it was off the Meca of MoPar Perfomance a visit to the famous George Asche, thought we woul be there for a few hours, stayed the whole day. Great Man. Then it was off the Newport Hill climb, if you have nver been, it is something to see. 300 plus cars and trucks entered in 31 classes. Hundreds of vendors and boothes, car show all in a small town of 500 people. Entered the 47 in Car Show, had to leave before the awards, Car ran perfect. Got home Sunday night 13 days days on the road. Quote
Normspeed Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Sounds like a really good trip. I'll bet the hill climb was something to see. Glad your car made the trip with no problems. Quote
Don Coatney Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 A visit with George Asche always takes a full day. Glad your trip was a success. How many miles did you put on your car? Quote
1949P17BC Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Don, I finally got my car together on Monday the week of the show, Replaced Rear brak drums, still had a vibration, had the tires rebalanced and discovered two very bent rims. So we diecide to trailer it. Was able to drive it at both shows, since we were at low speeds, about 150 miles at Westminster and 300 at the Newport Hill climb. Plan to order new wheels this week. Then I will drive it like a rental! Quote
greg g Posted October 6, 2009 Author Report Posted October 6, 2009 How did the 37 do at the hill climb, and why didn't your run the Plymouth up the hill???? Quote
greg g Posted October 6, 2009 Author Report Posted October 6, 2009 Mark, check your e mail, just sent you a note. Quote
1949P17BC Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 The 37 did OK I think it was 37 seconds. Like fools we believed the rules that said the cars had to be stock with no modifications. When you watch the early ford v8 light up both tires, in 1st & 2nd you wonder. My 47 was too new, though on Friday night in true "outcast form", with no one manning the barricade, I shot around it on my way out of town. It pulled it with ease Quote
greg g Posted October 6, 2009 Author Report Posted October 6, 2009 your car qualified in class H discotinued makes 6 standard to 55. No excuse next year. Quote
