exhaust manifold toggle vent

bought a used manifold it came with the unit that swings open and close?

what exactly does that do, also i need a spring or a rebuild kit for it does anyone make one?

Sounds like you are talking about the heat riser. There is a thermostatic spring that holds the flap in a position that will direct exhaust into a set of chambers in the intake manifold. Basically to aid in warming up the engine faster. As the engine heats up the spring weakens and the exhaust goes straight out the back.

You can get kits to rebuild this from Antique Auto Parts Cellar.

frank Mitcehell has them and they run around $130. do a search on ebay for mopar heat riser. Make sure you are asking for the riser for the ply and small dodge engines. There are two kits one for the Chryser/Desoto engines and there is a kit for the Ply/Dodge engines.

You do not see these very often on ebay.

Narrow it down a bit for us. Where have you looked so far? Have you gone through the vendor list on the main web page supporting this forum? Have you read all the information available on the main web page supporting this forum? Have you checked your local yellow pages? Have you followed all the links given to you in all your postings about your other questions? I took me just a few seconds to make this response. I did not use all lower case or all upper case and I wrote in a form that most here understand and accept.

Before I ever made my first posting on this forum (and I made that first posting on the old forum before the first refresh several years ago) I read everything on the main page supporting this forum including the heat riser advisor. You have been sent the link to that main web page supporting this forum several times both by my self and by others. What I really do not understand is how you could use the term "exhaust manifold toggle vent" to describe a heat riser. Have you not read everything on the main web page supporting this forum? Have you read anything on the main web page supporting this forum? Do you know how to get to the main web page supporting this forum? I guess I am old fashioned and a fool but I always believed it is best to search for the answer first and only ask the question if I could not find the answer using the resources available to me.

I just called myself a fool so send me to stand in the corner for two weeks if you must.

are you joking.... dont you have better things to be writing about, to answer your question, no i didnt read everything i dont have time for that? but even if i did how would i know that the toggle thing is the same as the heat riser?

try to expalin the color blue to a blind person you cant, get off my case your starting to annoy me. this is a forum, people answer questions about all types of things, that why we have a message board. uestions can be obvious or they can be difficult that noone really knows.

if you dont like my threads dont read them, i dont need your comments on my threads. there are nice people who help me out and answe them, the other people who critic my threads saying its not write to ask should really take a look at the big picture. i am trying to get educated on a car that is 64 years old. nothing is obvious, and many people who i call on the phone, and speak to me agree that their are certain people on the forum who are ball breakers for no reason, "like jerractrics people in florida who have to enforce rules in the clubhouse- like from seinfeld. go about your business, and ill go about mine. it is cool that there are a million of topic threads but i dont say anything, there area threads where is norms coupe, and people are missing which have nothing to do about the 1946 -48 plymouth but i dont say anything, because its a forum and everyon is entitled to post what they like!

In other words, he thinks his time is more valuable than yours...

I guess he missed that sticky from the moderator (GTK) that states that everyone isn't entitled to post what they like. I'm one of the more guilty parties, but please note that I usu. need to be incited before I get going.

As I've said before, when he really needs help, it won't be there for him. As he's stated, if you don't like his posts don't read'em. Of course, that may come to haunt him when he has a real problem that only a few people here have the answers to.

Ask a little, get a lot. Ask a lot, get little. Give a little, get a lot. Give a lot, set the unwritten rules.
