slicknapier Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 Finally got the business coupe lowered. I cut one full coil out of the front and had some dropped leafs built for the rear. They were supposed to be 3", but they didn't turn out 3". They must have been sagging to begin with. I also added 3" blocks to the rear.. Quote
pflaming Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 The business coupe is looking good. In a sense the business coupe is so ugly it is good looking. Looking forward to seeing it finished? Quote
Young Ed Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 I've contemplated that myself only with a job rated truck. Just because I've got extra frames and cabs sitting around. I'd like to make a p15 pickup Quote
BloodyKnuckles Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 I think it looks perfect. Great car!! BloodyKnuckles Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 If you knew just what car you wanted the front end from, it would be cool if some photoshop expert could put them together for you. Would be fun to see the outcome. Coupe looks good with it's new stance. Quote
dezeldoc Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 Drop the back another 2" and it will be perfect! Quote

glendale Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 how much were your rear leaves? and can you give me a measurement from the rocker to the ground? thanks car is looking real nice by the way. Quote

BobT-47P15 Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 Maybe it's just the computer here at work....but could not get anything but the red X on the picture Kirk Estes sent. Quote
49DODGEBOY Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 Looks perfect to me, another 2" in the rear and your cutting the driveshaft tunnel. I have the exact same mods in my 2dr coupe, with a 16 year old in the back seat, it rubs on take off. but I,m assuming new shocks will fix that. 3- windows are unique, I can't wait to tear into ours. they look real good chopped.. Plymouthy Adams Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 taildragging should be left to the Cesnas etc.... Quote
49DODGEBOY Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 Tunnels move real easy!! SO TRU........... Quote
dezeldoc Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 taildragging should be left to the Cesnas etc.... Come on Tim, ya know what happens when you get in your car!! Quote
pflaming Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 48 CHrashler: That maroon coupe is just fantastic! The chopped and lowered one is great also. Great imagination. The plymouth front end on the pilot house is interesting. Maybe a 47 front end on a 47 truck or a 53 ply on a pilot-house. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 dezeldoc..never have much cared for the taildraggin, low and level..ok..but I do like a bit lower in the rear but even a bit more in the front...to me this rake of the car makes it look a bit more aggressive.. and don't even mention putting shackles on the rear..horrible..just plain horrible... windsor8 Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 Ed,Do you mean something like this? Cool concept. Thats got thinking, but do I need a new project? Have you ever seen a real cross bread P-15 or D-24 pick up? Are they close enough to work? Quote
49DODGEBOY Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 Now you know how I got my nickname "49Bigugly" 48, luv that car, any posibilities of gettin a close up shot of the skirts in the well.....damn those are hard to find...... Quote
blueskies Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 Curious what you guys that have lowered the rear are doing with the exhaust? I want to put 2" lowering blocks on my '50, but the rear axle already will hit the twin pipes that run up and over the axle on the passenger side. If I lowered it any I would have to run the pipes out the side ahead of the rear wheel... Thoughts? Pete Quote

Pete I,ve seen a pair of pipes run off of splits that were both bent way over the axle and on an angle also, kinda hard to explain, but they tilted towards the drivers side, not sure what they gained there but the car was lowered with twins straight out the back on the passenger side. RobertKB Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 Here is a thought, Dont lower it:eek: I agree with Don. Never did understand the lowering and chopping thing. I think these cars look great stock. I thing the three window business coupes are great looking cars as well! Quote
