Dennis Hemingway Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 Just to let everyone know that I'm home, we got home a short while ago. My Carotid Endarterectomy on the Carotid Artery on the right side of my neck went good on Thursady, but then my blood pressure went wild. It went from real low to very high and everything in between. They finally got it under control today so Loma Linda VA Hospital let me come home this afternoon. I now have a scar from behind my ear down to the bottom of my neck. No driving or lifting over 10 lbs for the next 2 weeks. Catch you later Dennis:eek: Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 Dennis, Good to hear everything went alright and you're on your way to recovery. That said, just make sure you don't do what my brother in law did after his double bypass surgery back in the late 90's. He wasn't supposed to do any lifting either. But........he took his 38 Ford for a drive and ran out of gas. He then walked 2 blocks to the gas station and carried a 2 gallon can full of gas back to the car to get it going again. He wasn't supposed to be doing that kind of stuff. But........guess it didn't hurt him. Quote
Oldguy48 Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 Dennis, Glad to hear that the procedure went well. Get well soon. At least the doctor didn't tell you you couldn't participate on this forum. That's a directive that would be tough to obey. Quote

Joe Flanagan Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 Maybe someone ought to keep an eye on Dennis while he's recuperating, make sure he doesn't develop any bad habits. Quote

Dennis Hemingway Posted April 5, 2009 Author Report Posted April 5, 2009 ..Good to hear you're on the mend Dennis. Spring is in the air and I supposethere will be a lot of activity in your area in the old car hobby coming up. I missed the car show yesterday at Calico Ghost Town, but I was told that they had a slient prayer for me at 1:30pm and that was the same time that my blood pressure setteled down. The next show is at the AVI Casino in Laughlin, Nv in 2 weeks I sure hope to be able to go to that one as it is fun, it lasts from thursday to sunday. My next Dr's appt in the day before the show and that will be when I will be told if I can drive or not. I have a buddy who said that he will load and unload the car for me if I need it.
