Robin (UK) Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 Guys, I'm always reluctant to post details of live Ebay auctions (I know there was a thread about this recently) but have you seen the Chrysler T&C convertible with a buy it now price of only $18,500? I love this comment from the seller... Almost everything is being reproduced for these Classics, even complete wood kits, so do not be shy. Now, if anyone here buys this car, I have an original 1940s brush for sale for only 100 bucks. It would be ideal for sweeping up the remaining metal. The head and handle are missing, but you'll be able to get replacement parts at any good hardware store. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 It WAS a convertible---one way to tell is by the metal side panels in what would have been the rear seat area. Quote
Oldguy48 Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 All you'd need is jumper cables, a can of ether, and a tire pump, and you'd be cruisin' down the road:D Would you consider this a "Rat Rod"?? Quote
Frank Elder Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 HAHA! It only has rust rod status:( Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 maybe you get the original termites with this baby..was it parked next to a tar pit... Quote
Young Ed Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 Shame to think how beautiful that car once was. And maybe just maybe if it wasn't priced ridiculously high someone might try to make a car out of it again. Or buy it to combine with another hulk of a T&C Quote
RobertKB Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 Seller has been watching too much Barrett-Jackson. Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 ...do not be shy. please tell me this is a joke! Quote
RobertKB Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 only $18,500? I will give the seller the benefit of the doubt and say he misplaced his decimal point. Maybe $185.00. Might be a few usable parts on it but that is about all. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 doubt or no doubt..you still be giving the guy too much Quote
greg g Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 Maybe he is throwig i the tartan plaid seat covers................ Quote
1lowdown Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 It is interesting to ote that the entire car has rusted away but yet the chrome on the dash and horm ring seem to be bright and shiney Quote
Frank Elder Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 I wonder what sites there are that supply wooden body parts? They could be interesting to check out. Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 It is Mitchell MOtor PARts who has it listed on E-Pay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks___1946-1947-1948-Chrysler-Town-and-Country-WOODY-Convert_W0QQitemZ350167026751QQddnZCarsQ20Q26Q20TrucksQQddiZ2282QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item350167026751&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=72%3A317%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 Dennis:eek: Quote

Tim, you are right....even $185 is too much. Quote
Frank Elder Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 There isn't even enough steel to pay for running it to the scrap yard. Pitiful price. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 guess if you want bragging rights for having a most valued car is complete meltdown..then this is it... Quote
RobertKB Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 They say any car can be restored, but I am wondering if that is true in this case. Unless all the woodie specialty parts are there, I don't think this car could be saved. Mind you, I guess you could buy a restored or good original woodie convertible as a parts car. Quote
55 Fargo Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 Be better off restoring the Tulsarama 57 Plymouth, than this T&C, what a shame. If this were a complete or faiirly complete parts car, being a T&C Convert, it may very well command the 18 grand, as these cars are worth big bucks. I know a guy not far from here, he has 2 T&Cs, 1 rag top, 70000 oriignal miles, in very good original shape, and licensed and on the road, and another T&C 4dr sedan, fully restored, the interior is even brand new Bedford cord and Leather. Both cars are from Montana, he bought them 30 plus years ago, when things were not as they are priced now...........Fred Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 dang Fred...I was hoping that the Tulsa-mobile would fade into oblivion...what a waste in all regard..waste to build the swimming pool it was lowered inot, waste of a fine car and waste of time and trouble to pull out of the swimming pool..should have been filled with dirts and left to rot in peace... BobT-47P15 Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 I wonder how the de-rusting process is coming along. Quote
