I'm not the only Seacrest Green P15 in town

Is this ironic or what? The other day I was driving down a street towards my house and I thought I had driven past a mirror. I couldn't believe that there before me was a 1947 P15 2-door coupe, the same color and in the same town! I turned around and pulled over to get a better look. I walked over to it a noticed that it had been sitting for a while. Another thing I noticed is that it was a Deluxe model, and not the Special Deluxe, but it had a lot of optional extras added on to it that mine didn't have. Anyway, I got a hold of the owner and snapped some photos. He told me that it's belongs to his boss and he's trying to sell it for him. He said the car is a California car and always has been, with minimal rust, mainly in the trunk area, but no holes from what I could see. I was amazed at just how plain the Deluxe dashboard was compared to that of the Special Deluxe...very little chrome. It has a very old after market directional indicator assembly on it. He said the car runs, but hasn't been started in months. He said if anyone here is interested to contact me and I can give you his phone number.

Here are a few pics of it:

Looks like it would clean up nicely.A great car for someone.Interesting, the cars that are still out there in really nice original condition.

I just bought and installed a brand new one of those turn signal arms.

I have a turn signal just like that......son-in-law got it somewhere.

Missing the strap that goes around the column. They are a pretty

good quality unit.

You oughta buy that one and have a matched pair.......sort of.

If a person wanted to, they can add the fancier trim and replace

the steering wheel and make it look like a Spec Deluxe.

Would be cool to have one of each style, however.

Think that's a 50 Dodge knob, or something similar, on the wipers.

Found one just like the one pictured under the seat. Wondered if it works, opened it and cleaned it up, nothing seemed to be broken, how do I test it?The one on the post is an aftermarket unit also.

I should have omitted the last sentence in my comment.Just trying to be nice;)

Nah...I think I would like to have a 1939 Plymouth next (but I need to still recoup from what this one cost me to restore). I saw a nice convertible one in an old East Side Kids movie the other day and it grew on me. Although I know I could never find nor afford a convertible, how hard are the '39 business coupe, club coupe or 2-door sedans to come by?

I don't know how hard these 39's are to find , I have a 37 Ply two door that I drove out west from Kansas on US 70 - US 50 in spring 1980 ( The year Genuine Risk won the Kentucky Derby) with first gear missing a few teeth . I fixed that and a few other things & ran it till I put it away about 10 years ago so its going to need some attention attention to get it back on the road. The 37-39 Plys were easy to stear with the stock 16" wheels..

but Years ago, I had a 39 Ply Busines Coupe ,and put a top shift freewheeling non electric overdrive in it. The trans fit but I had to remove the complete parking brake and put the trans in and then assemble parking brake because of the x frame, i found a drive shaft that worked without modification. I sold it to a friend who sold it to Keith Jaques who turned it into a convertible.. . Overdrive did not work well I think because like with the late o/ds ya need the 4:11 in the rear end or they just lug in O/D unless on flat ground and that 201 road king just lacked a little in the hp.

Your car is clean and the P15 deluxe dash I always liked because it seems you only seen one of them for every ten special deluxes, just that I felt they were rare and i had scored one, on my p15 deluxe I had used a blaupunct radio that had 6-12 volt or + or neg ground and put it in the glove box with speakers under the seat and the antena bolted to the frame under the car ...

I know what ya mean. I spent lots of time drooling over this one at a local show last summer.

Nice survivor, I see it sports the optional "Merle Coggins" emergency brakes.....LOL:)

Close Frankie.. :D

But this one appears to be a chunk of 4x4. My version is a rock. I guess I won't have to sue for copyright infringment. :P

Darin we had this one until a few years ago. Its gone through a couple owners and is now for sale again. People trying to make a buck on it. I think the asking price is like 8k or something super high. It sure was a lot of fun to drive though.

That's a nice one, Ed. I wish I had 8K to play with right now. As you said, times are hard now, so they might go down a bit.

Its also been for sale for that much for about a year and I know they paid way less.

There is a '39 Plymouth 4 door sedan I see on my way to work that has been for sale for some time. It looks really nice with dark blue paint. It very possibly could be original running gear but cannot say for sure. The only thing I don't care for is the wheels. They are the white slotted type that some pickup trucks use and somehow look out of place on this car in my opinion anyway.

I've got a floorshift OD from a 36 chrysler in my 39 P7 touring sedan. I haven't been able to get the E brake working...the cable didn't reach and was originally on the other side on the 39 tranny. So I employ one of those "special" E brakes as well. ;) How did you get that e brake to reach? I had to detach mine from the bracket...and it still won't work right. ALso, I have a rear end with the numbers 39 on top of it...and when cruising in 3rd OD...if I go uphill it slows...alot... great on flat road though.

Dad and I ran into a similar situation when swapping an OD in place of a gyromatic. Dad made a skinny U shapped piece to connect the cable to the cable mount.
