daddyo23 Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 If you need a co-pilot for a parts run, let me know.... Wayne p. Quote
Alexander Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Very sorry to hear the bad news. It hurts me seeing an antquie car geting hurt like this. I am glad you and the other driver are OK. If you are comfortable with it, please share with us what the insurance company will do and or offer. I always wonder how hard it is to make a claim and what the compensation is on these old cars. Alex Quote
mackster Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 OUCH! sorry to hear about your car...hopefully the damage is contained to the front clip only...and the frame turns out to be ok...Glad to hear you are in one piece, hang in there. The name Spot seems to fit her just fine. the other name seemed too high maintenance, Spots sounds like it will run with the punches.... Quote
blueskies Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Damn, Ed... Glad you weren't injured in the crash. First thing I looked at in the pics was to see if the glass was still in the front. Do you have seatbelts? Looks like it was a pretty good whollup. Hopefully your insurance company will take care of getting the car back together, and you will be back on the road before you know it. Pete Quote
randroid Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Ed, I have a spare radiator hanging in my garage. I've never had it tested but it looks in good condition. Don't know what shipping would be from Colorado but it's yours if you want it. -Randy Quote
Young Ed Posted September 18, 2008 Author Report Posted September 18, 2008 Nope no seatbelts. So far I feel fine. The cop asked us if we were wearing seat belts. Before I could say no he said does that thing even have seatbelts? Quote
TodFitch Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Good to hear you were not injured. As others have said people are more important than cars. That said, your car sure too a wallop. I hope you can get it fixed to your satisfaction. Quote
PatS.... Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Glad no-one was hurt...cars can be fixed. Quote
1947PLEVY Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Don & Ed; That is one of the cars I have. I bought another for parts. I have both fenders and hood(not too good) needs some attention. Both front a frames with all the fixin's just need to be bolted on. Might even have a few stainless grille pieces. I Have all 3 little bars for the grille. Have the hood latch and other assorted parts. Take Care and God Bless.. John 47Plevy Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 What can I say but I know you must be heart broken. All of here cherrish our old cars and when one gets wrecked its kind of effects all of us. I know myself its only a piece of metal but its a peace of metal that's had our heart and soul put in them. I take pride in my old Dodge and I know you must also for your old Plymouth. Well I'm glad no was seriously hurt and maybe you can salvage most of the car for parts. Like I said before its only a piece of metal and you will move on to another one. I have had over 100 old cars in my life and each one brings back a memory or two and I'm sure you will move forward and enjoy another old car. So with that said just thank god that your ok and just move forward.. Jon Quote
Young Ed Posted September 18, 2008 Author Report Posted September 18, 2008 Luckily I'm not one to give up. This will be a huge setback but I believe she'll see the road again. Between here and the POC guys I've got a lot of sources for parts. Quote
49plymouthdotcom Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Oh No! Sorry Ed. My soon-to-be father-in-law is a frame and body guy here on the East side of St. Paul. I'll show him the pics after work today and see what he says. Quote
jd52cranbrook Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Man, sorry to hear that, but glad you are OK. Think of it as a opportunity instead of a set back. At least that's what my well wishers tell me when something bad happens. Quote
Young Ed Posted September 18, 2008 Author Report Posted September 18, 2008 Sounds good. If you want to see the carnage and pick up that pan let me know. Its still connected to the bumper but hopefully I will get it apart Quote
Young Ed Posted September 18, 2008 Author Report Posted September 18, 2008 Thanks to everyone for the thoughts. I must say I'm a little disappointed no one told me that'll buff right out. As depressed as I am that probably still would have gotten a chuckle out of me. I had planned to drive her on our annual 3day fall tour in 2 weeks. Looks like thats a no go. Quote

I could pick up that pan and get him to come along. Quote
eric wissing Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Nope no seatbelts. So far I feel fine. The cop asked us if we were wearing seat belts. Before I could say no he said does that thing even have seatbelts? Good reason to put seat belts in. Glad to hear you are OK. A young whipper snapper like you should get some belts in his car. It would be terrible if you were hurt to the point where you could not drive again. A few will pipe in with some story on how not using seat belts saved their lives. Baloney!! You will never become President of the POC if you are not around. Soapbox collapsed will spewing this. Eric Quote
1947PLEVY Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 O.K. Ed: How about some gauze and a few band aids...Don't forget the peroxide. I'm glad you have some humor out of the bad situation. Take Care and God Bless.. Someone was looking over your shoulder. John 47Plevy Quote
Merle Coggins Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 I'll jump in the truck and head up there with my BFH and a couple rolls of 300 MPH tape. We'll have 'er back on the track in no time. Seriously though, I'm glad your OK. Cars are easier to fix than people. Gonna be drivin' the '46 Dodge now til you get the 'Kota runnin'? Quote
Young Ed Posted September 18, 2008 Author Report Posted September 18, 2008 So far no. 46 is stuck in the garage again because there is a dakota in the way and probably soon a smashed 48. Otherwise the smashed 48 might go inside Quote
Brendan D25 Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 I am also glad you are ok, maybe if you were driving a modern day car things would have been different. The "it'll buff out" line came to mind when I first started reading this post, but I guess we are that concerned about you and your car that nobody would consider it appropriate. Cheers, Brendan. Young Ed Posted September 18, 2008 Author Report Posted September 18, 2008 The irony of it all is that I was only on that street because I was trying to avoid the business of the freeway and the morning traffic. My normal route to work is no where near there. Quote
oldmopar Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 I guess it depends on you insurance and not that I would want to find out but my policy is for full replacement. If yours is the same I think they would have to repair all the damage or buy you a car in similar condition. As stated before sheet metal is a lot easier to fix then people so it is fortunate no one was hurt. Ed Quote
Don Coatney Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Did you move to Heliopolis? Never got an answer to this question Mr Pheonix:confused: Oh No! Sorry Ed. My soon-to-be father-in-law is a frame and body guy here on the East side of St. Paul. I'll show him the pics after work today and see what he says. Here is the fix for your frame! Aint this forum great!!!! You will never become President of the POC if you are not around. I second that commotion:cool: Quote
Young Ed Posted September 18, 2008 Author Report Posted September 18, 2008 Don not familiar with Heliopolis. Ya lots of help already. Guess this is a reason to go to the junkyard too. Quote
