windsor8 Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 I just lost my Mother last week and while looking through her old picture albums I came across this photo of yours truly. It is dated May 28, 1950 and I am 14 months old. Quote
wldavis3 Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 Nice photo. It is always great to find old photos of family. Sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom. Quote
Frank Blackstone Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 grief with us. This is a great place to share for all use advanced age gearheads that tend to isolate. Even in a crowd. I have seen a lot of support coming from even the crustiest of members. Be well, Frank Quote
Frank Elder Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 Sure miss mine, wish it was easy, but it is'nt. Remember it like it was yesterday. My thoughts are with you. Some times I think of the small things she used to do, like bake a little apple crust for me, when she was baking for the rest of the family. Made me feel special! FRANKIE47 Quote
jd52cranbrook Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 Very sorry for your loss. Truly Good to know where one's addiction (Mopar addiction that is,, )started,,,, Quote
PatS.... Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 My condolences on your loss. Glad there was a smile in the discovery of that pic. Those fat fenders were great for posing for pictures. Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 When I was that age my mother drove a 1948 Buick and my sister and I would sit next to her in the front seat. No seatbelts in those days. Everytime my mother would stop fast she would swing her right arm out in front of us to protect us from sliding off the seat or into the dash. I recall if she had to stop real fast the speed of her arm was even faster to the point where when she wacked us it would have felt better to hit the dash. Just one of the things I remember about my mother. I am sure you also have fond memories that you will never lose. My thoughts are with you. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 I am sorry for your loss, our parents live on in our memories, you will find these treasures from time to time and they will be a great confort. I continue to find things I call artifacts of my parents and enjoy them for hours. The pic you have there is interesting as the car next to it was concidered an old car however now we would die for something like that, The 41 Plymouth was in my opnion the most hansome of the prewar cars and you got to sit on the fender so you got to experience the best at a young age. Good luck Quote
John Mulders Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 Sorry for your loss, my mom (will be 92 soon) still lives in the old house by herself, everytime I leave when I am in the Netherlands it may be the last time. Those goodbyes are hard. But the moments to think about her (or my dad) are already there (like Frank said), little things that will trigger an emotion. Thise will never go away ! All the best ! John Quote
Brendan D25 Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 Sorry for your loss, she will live on in your memories. It's nice to hang on to the old pictures. Brendan. Quote
Bodacious Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 Great picture and I'm very sorry for the loss of your mother. I lost mine almost three years ago now. Some times I think of the small things she used to do, like bake a little apple crust for me, when she was baking for the rest of the family. Made me feel special! FRANKIE47 Mine used to do that too! Mondays were Mom's "baking day" at our house when I was a little fellow. Quote
greg g Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 Memories will keep your mom with you though she is gone. Hold them close. Neat pic. Ever wonder how you sat still long enough to slide off??? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 it does not take much to trigger the emotions..this thread has done just that..just last year my mom passed...sorry to hear you loss..my mom supported and indulged my car habit even at an early age..she donated her carport to a number of my projects... JoelOkie Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 I too am sincerely sorry for your loss. Lost my mother in 1992, and my wife of 32 years this last year. As others have stated, solace for your grief is truly aided by, and your love lives on, through the fond memories you have for that person. Joel Quote
mackster Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 Sorry to hear about your loss, great taste in cars! I still have my mother and grandmother around, I think is time for me to take them out to a restaurant and give them a big hug... Quote
