  1. I'm heading there next weekend June 12th. Gonna take the car over to the Nut Club cruise. Should be about 200-300 cars there. Wondered if there were any forum members who live close? I remember seeing one or two P-15's there last year.
  2. Your car looks great! Very nice work. It cleaned up very nice.
  3. On your stop lamp switch one side should be power from the battery and the other side should go to the rear lamps. They can be connected to the rear lamps thru the turn signal switch. An easy way to check that is first to check to see if the white wire has power. If not you can put power to that wire and that will light up the rear lamps. Not sure on the pigtails. I know on my car I have a pigtail coming out of one side of my stop lamp switch. One wire is connected to the turn signal switch to light up the side turn signals and the other wire spliced there goes to my center stop lamp switch. So it acts as a third brake light. Works quite well actually.
  4. I washed and waxed mine last night too Bob. I try to do a good cleaning and waxing at least once a year, usually in the spring. If you think shining your car is rough, try adding two more doors and a roof! Looking good Bob, have fun at the show.
  5. I went to wal-mart and bought a roll of $10 carpet. A friend of mine had just replaced his trunk mat in his '71 Nova. The old one was in decent shape, he just wanted a new one. So I used 3M spray carpet adhesive and glued the carpet to the mat. I took a piece of cardboard and made a pattern, then just laid the carpet over it and cut it. Put the carpet on the mat and cut the mat. It works pretty good, and with the rubber mat under the carpet and glued to it as well, it doesn't bunch up or slide much.
  6. Well since I work out in the field, or on the road most days driving my car to work is impossible, as work may be 10 miles away or 200 miles away, depending on where I work most days. How bout we change it up a bit and make it "drive your mopar _____ week" I know I like to drive my car up to the local Sonic on Wednesday nights and meet with a few friends of mine who drive their cars too. You could drive it to a park for a picnic, go out to eat, go to play golf, or whatever you want to do. That way you can drive your car to a relatively safe location, do it in your free time, and enjoy it. Only rule is you have to take a few pics of your adventure to share with the rest of the group. In remembrance of Norm's coupe, if your car is not driveable, and you push it out into the driveway for a few pics that counts too. Let me know if that sounds better to everyone. Then I guess we need to dedicate a week, and those who can drive their cars to work could do the same thing.
  7. Congrats Ed and Carmon! Good luck to you both. As a wise man once said, "Marriage is a great institution, but who wants to live in an institution all their life?"
  8. Is it getting 6 volts to the gauge? Also did you connect the ground on the resistor. I didn't have a good ground and it wouldn't work for me.
  9. Glad you guys met up. Always good to see forum members get together.
  10. Neat pics. Looks like you had a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing.
  11. Glad you guys are going to meet up. Post some pics. Have fun!
  12. Very nice! Looks very comfortable.
  13. Sounds good Mark. Like to meet some of the others in the area too.
  14. Sounds like you are all over it Mark. Good luck with your to-do's. Hope you get it all done before the big drive. Glad I could help you out with the gas gauge.
  15. I went out to hidden lake winery in Aviston, IL this afternoon. Went to Lebanon and went shopping downtown until the storm sirens went off about 4:30. Then high tailed it home. Probably try it again in July or August. Hope to meet you guys sometime soon.
  16. Thanks for the input guys. Just making sure. I didn't remember it taking more than 5 qts before.
  17. On my '47 218 I have an external oil filter. I changed oil in it the other day and it took 6 quarts to get to full on the dipstick. Is this correct or should it be 5 with the oil filter? I did drain my filter when doing the oil change. So I wondered if there is 5 in the crankcase and 1 in the filter housing.
  18. Welcome Leroy, very nice car. Love them '47 4-doors. I could be partial though.
  19. Yeah country classics in Staunton is a neat place to go, but the prices can scare you a bit. I've seen lots of junk there for $3500. Seen decent stuff too, just a bit overpriced. I like Gateway classics, but I seem to enjoy going to Fastlane in St. Charles, MO a bit more. They have some neat stuff. I'm always just a looker and not much of a buyer. I've come close, but I know better. Only two places in the garage and both are filled.
  20. I bought the entire kit from Roberts. That includes both uppers and both lowers. Enough to do each control arm. It is all up to snuff so far. We'll see how well it holds up.
  21. Hope to see you there Phil. The show is in the downtown area on the street. Was a very nice cruise night last year when I went in August.
  22. Sorry to hear about that Mark. Your car was looking great. Those type of things happening can drive you nuts. Makes me want to go out and readjust my e-brake.
  23. Mc Henry is quite a ways from me. It is near Chicago. Lebanon is east of St. Louis about 30 miles I think. In the southern part of the state.
  24. Well I'm going to change the oil in the car this week and make sure my ignition wires are clamped down tight. Then I'm going to make the drive up to Lebanon for the downtown cruise. I know some of you guys live up in that area, just wanted to know if anyone was going and might like to meet there. Hoping the weather is nice, but you never know. Especially in the spring.
  25. Got my suspension back together this week and took it to the alignment shop yesterday. Car drives great. It doesn't drive like a 2010 car, but it probably drives just as good as when it was new, and that is a whole lot better than it was before. Took a few photos of the project. I went to a couple of local shows with a friend of mine. Helped out with a show at a church in Benton, IL. Then headed down to a cruise at the Home Depot in Marion, IL. Really enjoyed driving the car today. I did have one mishap today. Got about 20 miles from home and the car started missing terribly, then quit all together. I found a side road off of the highway and pulled over. I was between towns off on a country road, so not much light and it was at dusk. My flashlight battery turned out to be dead and all I had was my cell phone light. Spent a few minutes under the hood with it and noticed that one of the igniton wires on the coil had slipped off. Put it on and car fired right up and I got it home. Worried me for a bit, glad it was an easy fix. Always some drama with these old cars. I have a few pics to share.
