  1. This from a jerk that tried it. I put a piece of broken concrete on the gas pedal and stepped back. After a few minutes it began to blow some light blue smoke. The neighbor came out in another few minutes to give me the stink eye. Several more minutes and I had to give up. I drove it to the junk yard that afternoon. Plymouth is right.
  2. You probably need a new vacuum gauge.
  3. That boy is standing there silently screaming "Gimme a wrench, Dad, I wanna help!" So do it already.
  4. If you don't have a tool or shaft, put the clutch cover bolts in finger tight so the disc can slide around. Slip the tyranny in and then tighten the clutch cover bolts last.
  5. Congratulations to you! Even more fun!
  6. I am sorry to hear that your life has taken a turn on you. Hopefully something can be worked out.
  7. I'll take them all!
  8. Can we expect some pickin and grinnin coming from Ft. Wayne, now?
  9. DrDoctor, I don't want to hijack a thread or get too far off topic, so short answers. The engine makes a good 50 hp to move a 1990 lb car quite smartly. There are several parts suppliers in Europe, so I can get most anything I need. I bought the car from my son who has two more and his own stash of parts. I don't need to find oil filters ! The car doesn't have many miles on it, so wear isn't really evident. I have many pictures, but not on this device. I guess I didn't keep it short after all.
  10. I am lucky that when I take my Wartburg to shows, no one knows what's right or wrong but me.
  11. Yikes! Sorry.
  12. Congratulations on your new life ! Every day is Saturday now.
  13. Now that's real service!
  14. Rockwood, you type much faster than I do !!
  15. Self energizing means the shoes tend to angle in to the drums, increasing the pressure. This happens on the front shoe of one cylinder brakes and both shoes on two cylinder brakes because both shoes are facing the direction of drum rotation. Instead of losing self energizing, Lockheeds double it.
  16. Another mystery solved. It's quite common to see mismatched numbers because changing engines was, and is, the quick easy way to do a rebuild. Every one from the shade tree mechanic to the dealer would toss in a rebuilt engine in a few hours rather than remove strip and rebuild the original one. Yours looks like an exceptionally well preserved frame.
  17. That looks spectacular! Beautiful.
  18. The spring action is only at the very of travel.
  19. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, well then whats that gooey stuff on my battery?
  20. Push the lever all the way in one direction and you will feel a spring loaded inch or so of travel. If not, push it the other way and do the same. It feels disconnected, but it only functions for a short travel. It's the selector arm that shifts movement from the 2-3 rail to the lo- reverse rail.
  21. Price depends on store location. I believe the group 1 was $69 at the Big R in Michigan City Indiana store. But that was almost two years ago. The TSC in Valparaiso was a bit higher.
  22. The throwout bearing shouldn't touch the pressure plate fingers with the pedal released. That's why there is "pedal free play", which you will read about in your manual.
  23. That looks scary low to me. Hate to have it knocked off. Is it the cameras perspective? I hope ?
  24. TSC. Group 1. About $60, lasts seven years.
