  1. Pretty cool car. Wonder what that cost to build.
  2. got mine from Andy Bernbaum for my whole car. Everything but the vent windows was excellent. Fit well with no problems.
  3. I bought Optima. Have no 2nd thoughts or problems about it at all.
  4. You're welcome. Sometimes one needs to think outside the box and use what's on hand. lol
  5. I have 3 heavy duty ratchet straps. The first I use to compress the spring by wrapping around the top and lower a arm. Crank it down tight. Then I wrap one around the spring and tighten. Loosen everything and it just fell out. If you are going to reuse the same springs I'd just leave the strap around them in place. Of course you would need 3 straps then. Mine are 2 1/2" wide and quite thick.
  6. My 47 Dodge took two each side. 1 large 1 small. Don't remember where I got the size but I believe it was on this site somewhere. Maybe Tech section.
  7. Like I said I had a professional redo it and he had it twice.
  8. I set it in the same position on the bench as it sits in the car but I'll take a look at the hands. Tks
  9. I had the clock in my 47 Dodge professionally fixed. It will run for over 24 hours on a bench hooked to a battery. As soon as I put it in the car it lasts maybe 20 minutes and quits. Even if just sitting. I have a good ground and good amps/volts to the clock. I don't understand it.
  10. The number is also stamped on the left rear frame outboard usually on the rear wheel arch. Some take a wire brushing to find.
  11. Nick ask any collage/tech schools around if they take cars to work on. Most that have an automotive or welding class do and only charge for parts. No labor fee.
  12. superb
  13. I agree weld it up with thick metal.
  14. That's the way I resize as well. Pretty easy.
  15. I would think a darker color of wood graining would work. Here's a photo of my hydrodipped dash.
  16. looking darn good Ron. Congrats.
  17. Honestly Nick it looks much worse than it is. Iv'e seen, owned and fixed worse. It was my first time doing it as well. You'll do fine. One piece at a time and measure measure measure before cutting. Also, weld in bracing to keep it square when removing metal.
  18. Photos of the switches would be helpful. Nice looking car.
  19. Most that I've seen done were connected at the generator bracket.
  20. For those that might be thinking about woodgraining but find it too expensive. I don't know the cost of this. 387 different wood patterns. https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company-us/all-3m-products/~/All-3M-Products/Design-Construction/Architectural-Design/Architecture-Construction/Architectural-Finishes/Surface-Finishes/?N=5002385+8707400+8709317+8710037+8710647+8710818+8711017+8729468+3294857497&rt=r3
  21. I've been searching for the rubber body mounts for the 55. Cheapest that I can find is $175 for 28 pieces of rubber. I decided to make my own. 1. I bought a sheet of 1/2" and a sheet of 5/8" thick rubber. 2. cut out the 14 2 1/8" x 1/2" square pieces. 3. used a spade bit 1 1/4" to make the inset for the steel washer in the bottom. 4. next I drilled the 3/4" hole through the middle using the hole that the point of the spade bit made when it exited on the other side to center the 3/4" arbor bit. That finished the square parts. 5. the round parts I cut out using a 1 3/8" hole saw 6. I then used the same 3/4" arbor bit for the center hole. Total cost $35.
