  1. Coupe is up and running again. Just let it sit for 5 days. Wanted to start a few times and then started right up. Drove her around for a bit. Shut it off and started right back up. Happy owner again. Now to wash 6 months of dust off of her. Need to get a good car cover.
  2. I'm relaying the oak flooring that I took up and planned down last month so it will be a few days before I get back to the coupe.
  3. There are no mice in Alaska. lol We have voles but no mice.
  4. it's getting fuel. Can see it squirt when I work the linkage.
  5. starter is engaged by push button. Key is either on or off.
  6. I bought a set for my 47 coupe from Andy Bernbaum's. Didn't fit correctly and never received a reply to a few emails. Bought a set off of ebay from a private seller still in the plastic. Only thing it said on the package was 46 - 48 Dodge and made in Brazil. Fit perfectly.
  7. They are clean. Less than 50 miles on them. Weren't wet, weren't extremely dry looking either. No carbon buildup.
  8. I've pulled the plugs today. Turned it over a bit with them out as well.
  9. PA I've already done all that has been advised. I'm still "chasing my tail". Thanks.
  10. Brand new wiring, plugs, rotor, rotor cap, points and rebuilt starter. Turns over fine. I put one of those plug lights that hook to the plug wire and then the plug. Lights up bright every time if fires.
  11. I've tried both of those. I have also let it set for 24 hours to evaporate the fuel. No luck.
  12. I've been out of state for 5 weeks and hadn't started the coupe for about 4 weeks before that. Came home on Saturday and tried to start it on Sunday. Started but I forgot that it doesn't like much choke and it died before I could push the choke in. Now I can't get it to start at all. If I floor the accelerator pedal it almost tried so that the starter kicks out. But it never does more than that. Any ideas?
  13. The only plaid that I've ever worn is my kilt.
  14. Bell bottoms in high school never ever a suit.
  15. Since I hunt 60 to 100 miles from the nearest road I've never had a desire to carry out a 200lb moose hide. + I have no idea how much it would cost to tan but I'd imagine it would be quite a bit.
  16. I won some coupe NOS seat covers in green plaid. I haven't been real happy with my ivory colored upholstery due to how easy it can get stained. I paid $35 for this set. Only need the front seat but I think it will save my upholstery and I won't have to worry about it every time I get in.
  17. Practice = experience, experience = expertise. Doing much better than I did when I began.
  18. If it was closer I'd buy it at twice that.
  19. How many 40's convertibles are running around? Let alone a DeSoto. Don't know the price but if it was reasonable I'd take it on.
  20. Being on rails would help with keeping the front skirts on. lol
  21. I like the after better. But I like nice paint. Even if it is powder coated. lol
  22. Nice one. Everyone should be lucky sometime.
  23. I'd get it running and stopping first. Enjoy it that way for awhile before doing any major teardowns. Does your school have an automotive class? If so I'm sure that the instructor would be happy to have the class work on it to help. Good luck.
  24. Bought my rebuild kit's here. https://www.carburetor-parts.com/
