  1. That’s my guess. I bought mine at Napa and they referred to it as an export version.
  2. I had one on my D24. It was an export pump. Perhaps the steering shaft on rh drive interfered with the sediment bowl. It will work fine but I would add a filter between the pump and carb.
  3. Are you saying one doesn’t have a sediment bowl? If so it’s an export pump for rh drive.
  4. I’m normally on the car side of the forum but you folks may be able to help with this. I bought an engine from a 51 Coronet but according to the L230 prefix it’s actually from a 58 truck. My problem is identifying the generator I have. The tag is damaged and I can’t completely read the number. It’s either G or D then I can’t tell then C7012A. I’m wondering if it’s the 12 volt generator from the truck. My Coronet has a GGW6001K for 6 volt positive ground. I’m thinking of having it rebuilt but not if it won’t work. I don’t know if the car it came out of had been converted to 12 volt. Thanks in advance.
  5. I need some help identifying the generator off of the spare engine I bought. The engine came from a 51 Coronet but the engine number prefix is L230 which specifies a 58 truck. The tag on the generator is damaged and I can’t get the complete number. It’s either G or D then I can’t make out the 2nd letter then C7012A. The generator is almost identical to the one on my 52 Coronet except there are 2 mounting holes or ears if you prefer on the front flange. I’m debating on having it rebuilt but I’m wondering if it’s the 12 volt generator from the truck. I’m going to post this on the truck side of the forum also. Thanks in advance
  6. The T and C used the M6 trans. That limits which carb can be used.
  7. Glad you got it figured out. Sometimes finding the problem is the worst lol
  8. Beautiful work!
  9. That’s correct. I believe both options were available. 53 was the last year for the M6 trans.
  10. Do you have Gyromatic or Gyro-Torque? One has a fluid coupling like my 52 , the other has a torque converter. Gyro-Torque also shares engine oil. I believe it’s 11 quarts for an oil change.
  11. I’ve not done it yet but I believe the trans must be removed first. Be careful with the fluid coupling. Any sideways movement can crack the carbon seal.
  12. I actually boiled the boots to soften them then applied liberal amounts of lube. After that the procedure in the service manual worked fine.
  13. Welcome! Beautiful car. I have a 52 Coronet. Lots of knowledge here.
  14. Thanks everyone
  15. Has anyone had any luck finding a 7/16 distributor wrench? I’m able to adjust my timing with a standard 7/16 wrench but bending over with a bad back isn’t fun. It seems everyone has the standard 1/2 and 9/16.
  16. Any engine analyzer with a tachometer will work. I use the cheapest 12 volt riding mower battery I can find to power my timing light. My analyzer works fine with the 6 volt battery. I set my idle at 475

I keep my 52 Coronet below 60 mph but I’ve had it up to 75 once or twice. I avoid highways whenever possible. I’m comfortable cruising around 45-50 on a two lane road. On the highway I stay at 55 and let people pass. I agree with Rich. Be aware of what you’re driving and be defensive.
  18. Rural King has a group 1 for around $60.00
  19. Stromberg BXVES
  20. 87 octane works fine in our cars. Rebuilding the carb and fuel pump with ethanol resistant parts will be money well spent.
  21. The Sisson choke is mounted on the intake manifold. A wire comes from the starter. I suggest rebuilding the carb again preferably with a different kit than the one you had problems with. I’ve had good luck with kits from Daytona. It sounds like your problem started after the rebuild so starting from scratch is a good thing.
  22. I agree with Rich. I have a 52 Coronet and I recently replaced the line and added an electric pump. It’s not hard just takes some time.
  23. I got my build card for the Coronet yesterday. Are there any resources available to decode it. Besides knowing the original selling dealer I have no idea what the rest means.
  24. I love driving my Coronet but everyone is different. I live in a rural area where I can daily drive mine and not be scared of traffic. I prefer driving to wrenching lol but I do both.
