  1. Noisy in OD, not noisy when out.....check the oil. Do you know what kind of oil you have in it? Do you loose drive when it whines? Could be the over running clutch slipping or your shift lever is not adjusted properly not allowing the sun gear to be held.
  2. Greg is right, the sol will run easily on 12 volt. mine has for years now. I would change the relay to a Bosch style. There are 2 wires on the sol. Make sure they are hooked up right. One goes to power from the relay and the other is a momentary ground that hooks to the distributor. The sol comes apart easy for cleaning. Good luck
  3. We need some rules regarding this kinda stuff. You are making me so envious....That is going to be some "man cave".....enjoy to the fullest.....very nice
  4. Maybe they were smarter back then and realized it was not the way to go.
  5. one wire should be for power to operate the sol. the other is part of the kickdown system that gets hooked into the dist. there are lots of diagrams here if you search
  6. It is a priming pump for a diesel fuel injection pump....Possibly a CAV fuel pump.
  7. Pre-ignition was probably the most common cause of Don's piston failure.
  8. You will be busy answering the question "why?" rather than figuring out what to do with it.... I would go forward with your idea... just think of the way you will work your brain...Also you would have the only one on this site..... joining them and timing them will be your biggest challange.
  9. Makes me laugh when you mention "Jet" fuel....so many people head for the hills thinking it is such a volutile fuel.....Kerosene with the wax removed. Sure messes up a gas engine tho.....lotsa smoke and no power. This mixup is not uncommon.....
  10. Trim is found on the Special Deluxe.....I would say 41 for sure. Fender scallops and running boards are correct..
  11. It is an American car...23" engine....
  12. Hopefully some guru will have an answer for me. Will a radiator from a 47 to 49 Plymouth fit into my 41?
  13. Nice sound........when I did mine up the sound was tooooo loud. Was attracting unwanted attention. I put a cross over pipe in before the mufflers. Just right now.
  14. For all the use the heater gets, I have been running my 6 volt motor on 12 volts for 3 years now. Only use low speed all is fine.
  15. Not a burger to be seen.........ahhhh
  16. You need to find a shop that has a tune up scope to check the ignition system. Could be wires, plugs, point, condensor or the coil...a scope will tell you right now. Your compression is good.
  17. Does it miss under acceleration?
  18. switch to electronic ignition....gets rid of the little gremlin
  19. An hour and a half south of me there is a guy working on propane fuel injection for a mopar flattie.....very interesting
  20. Make sure both carbs are sitting on idle...can be tricky sometimes......disconnect the throttle linkage and have a friend hold the carbs at idle while you start it....
  21. Now the fun begins getting the throttles set so it will idle without putting a clutch spring on it.....looks good....I like your linkage
  22. If you after a 3 point mount with the auto trans why not leave the front as is and make brackets ,for the round mounts, off the frame at the trans and put the mount on a cross member that bolts solid to the transmission. Built it and we will comment......
  23. Do you have the front clip off? If so, disconnect the driveshaft and linkage and pull trans and engine together....if not, follow the above posts.
  24. To Chev or Ford fan they are not worth much....to a mopar guy they are priceless...Like Don says ...they are only worth what you feel good about paying.....Wouldn't let mine go for under 20 G.
  25. Break it in like you plan on driving it.....like greg said "drive it like you stole it".
