  1. Is the heat shield in place around the fuel pump?
  2. Convert to a slant six electronic system....very easy to do....do a search here for slant six conversion and follow the steps....doing mine right now and was surprised how easy is is.....good luck
  3. My trade was Parts and Service sales....you are right to say most younger parts persons are stuck in the computer age. Is it their fault? Not really. That is the way it is. What is needed is more training from the store owners. They tend to pay a lower rate of pay to most counter people because of their lack of knowledge. I bugs me to no end. I had a 34 chev hot rod with a 350 sbc. It needed a fuel pump. I had the pump in hand when I went into the store. The young parts guy asked me what it was out of? So I told him 350sbc in a 34 chev. His response was "we don't carry parts for vehicles that old". Off to the next store to spend my money.
  4. Our Cruising group on the way to Gold River for Gold River Days. It is an annual trip and this year the weather was beautiful. We join in on their parade and are always a big hit. This run is a warm up for the cruise to West Yellowstone in August for the Yellowstone Rod Run. Hope to see some forum members there.
  5. Rip ;(
  6. I have seen this before...was told the thinners in the color coat were not compatible with the primer...must check to see if you are sparying enamel on to enamel primer and acrylic onto acrylic. As for curing time before top coating...what do body shops do?
  7. Look for a push button gear shift knob and do away with the kickdown switch...this way all you have to do is puch the button at any speed and it will kick down..you have to incorporate a second relay into the circuit.
  8. 6 volt will run on 12 volt...have been for 2 years now with no problems.
  9. If you have the park brake on the transmission you will need the drum from the overdrive...it is offset from the non OD drum.
  10. I put a R10 in my 41....driveshaft was the same and speedo worked fine. Get all the switches and control cables you can. Good luck with the transplant....worth the work.
  11. I had the same fuse issue after changing to 12 volt...solution I went with was just running 1 horn....not as loud as 2 but still loud enough.
  12. Going with the built in shoulder harness is the way to go.... Tim....how does the seat line up with the steering wheel?
  13. No..is there such a thing?
  14. One would think that if there was a danger in running radials on bias rims the tire shops would not put them on. Afterall there would be a danger of the rim blowing during inflation. Tire shops are getting more and more concerned about Liability. here in Canada they are not wanting to instal just 2 winter tires. They insist on 4 for safety. I am running radial on my 41 and the only problem I have come across is where the valve stem comes thru the rim. For tube type the hole is oval and the tubeless stem is loose in the rim.
  15. Tim....how did you attach the shoulder harness on the "B" post? I have a 41 P12 and on my post I can feel what seems to be a spot that has a captured nut behind the upholstery. I do not want to cut into it and find I am wrong.
  16. Just to add to the thread....I have hopped up my 218 in steps.....shaved 040 from the head = no noticable difference, Offy twin manifold next = noticable difference, then Red's Headers and Walker cherry bombs = noticable difference again. The only problem I have encountered is a rich running engine. That is my next challenge. With the addition of headers the car has a lot more bottom end torq. Most likley from the fact it has better intake and exhaust flow. ( and the sound also helps )
  17. I will be in West Yellowstone for the rod run there beginning of August for 10 days....any other time will work for the island but looks like I will miss you guys...darn....
  18. Well said Roadking..
  19. 5.28 on canada's west coast.....some city prices higher for transit tax.....
  20. Mine are on a 23" block....
  21. I don't think so...no sign of a forth tube having been there..definitly 3 into one collector..
  22. I put a set on my 218...very happy with the fit and finish..Opted for the plain finish as they are pretty much hidden.....the quality of the welds was sweet....can't go wrong..
  23. Having lived in the area around Smithers I have to say what a nice place it is....Lots of outdoor activities. Hunting, fishing, skiing, hiking. A wonderful place to visit in the summer....
  24. i have headers and dual carbs with Thrush glass packs....Its loud..I may run the headers into a stock muffler then out the back with dual 2 1/2 pipes.....muffler shops around here used to stock a variety of mufflers so you could see what they all sounded like...not anymore...you have buy and try...no returns....
  25. I used to chase 289/271hp mustangs and 383 roadrunners much to their surprise...
