  1. Looks good Carl. Looks like a nice show with a lot of variety............Tim
  2. My '41 Dodge has electric wipers...........Tim
  3. I have a '41 Dodge with a stock '48 230 c.i. engine and three speed fluid drive tranny with 6.00-16 tires. I put a 3.27 ratio rear in place of my original 4.10. Low speed performance is fine. First gear is actually useful now. Drive-ability is better for the type of driving I do, secondary roads and primary two lane roads. Clutch wear should not be an issue on mine due to the fluid drive. What I have noticed is that I have to downshift on some hills that I didn't have to before. Could use a few more horses or tranny gears at this ratio. I had been considering swapping to a 3.55 when I found the 3.27. My speedo is way off at this point but I haven't driven the 3.27 rear enough to know if I will keep it or swap to 3.55, so I will live with the speedo till I decide. I know I don't want to go back to the 4.10 though. It is a much more relaxed feel on the road now. I once had a Plymouth duster with a 318 and three speed that had a 2.90 something rear in it and I could not keep clutches in it. My dad claimed it was the way I, a kid, drove it so he took it for awhile and soon had a chattering clutch as well. We swapped in an auto tranny since I didn't have a different rear. It was fine with the auto. That is my 2 cents.........Tim
  4. Good for you! Sounds like you need a "recession slot".......Tim
  5. Jim,I mailed it out this morning. You should have it in a couple days.........Tim
  6. Look forward to the pics...........Tim
  7. Jim, I have one from the rear I took out of my '41 Dodge. If it will work you are welcome to it. Just PM your address to me and I can send it off to you ......Tim
  8. I have seen it. I also don't like it very much. I don't find it offensive, I just find it to be lame. I like ads that describe the features of a vehicle, not just the image that they want to portray. This one does neither very well.............Tim
  9. Looking great Carl! Amazing what some elbow grease can do. Show that car with pride..............Tim
  10. Welcome Smokeybear! Looks like a great car.............Tim
  11. Relax, its just an old car. It will all work out in the end. Work on one issue at a time if you can. For the thermostat, make sure it is seating correctly in the housing, check your housing for bend or warp with a straight edge and replace as necessary. Make sure all remnants of the old gasket are cleaned off both surfaces. I normally don't use any sealant on these, just a good gasket. If it isn't shifting down quickly enough, is your kick down linkage properly adjusted, is it even there? Sometimes this gets left off on a swap but is very important to make your tranny function properly. As for the carb, a vacuum leak can cause what you describe with the new carb as well as what you said was going on with having to use excessive choke on a cold engine before. May not be at the carb itself. A bad vacuum advance diaphram on the distributor or any open or broken vacuum lines could cause a leak. Is the carb stock or properly sized for the engine, too big a carb can really kill an engine at low rpms. Vacuum leaks, timing, point gap are all good things to check. Pick one issue, tackle it with a clear head and post here for help.
  12. Bob it is a '69 and it does indeed have a slant six 225 auto. About 10 years ago I bought a 360 with the intentions of swapping engines but I have a thing for straight sixes and decided to keep it slanted...................Tim
  13. Finally got the cars out this weekend. Drove each a few miles with no issues. A great way to start the season...............Tim
  14. There are some really creative people out there. it always amazes me, the talent that is displayed in some of those customs. I poke around on the HAMB all the time. I always wonder how many of those early project photo cars ever get to completion by the guy who starts the project. Hopefully these old Mopars start receiving the respect they deserve. Just hope it doesn't run the prices up............Tim
  15. Safe journey to you guys and the others as they make their way home too. That looked like a great get together and a perfect send off. Old Mopar folks are the best! Look forward to updates..................Tim
  16. Hey Scotty, its yours. Build it the way you want and be proud of it. If the Chevy engine is what you want, do it. When you build it to satisfy others you will end up with something other than what you really want. If everyone's approval is what you want, sell it and find another hobby, because you will never get everyone to like whatever you do. That is my opinion that shouldn't matter either.................Tim
  17. Oh sure, the old "looks like we are out of gas at the lake" trick! Now I understand the part about a birthday present too.............Tim p.s. The car looks great!
  18. Those are two beautiful cars..............Tim
  19. I also thought '41 dodge. The profile looks right but I think it is too long at 5-5/8"..................Tim
  20. Real nice pics guys. Nice to see some are getting out and about...........Tim
  21. I know I have seen one of those hex signs around here somewhere..........Tim
  22. I had an issue with "sometimes" having to do one pump to get a full pedal and other times it was fine. I believe it was caused by the residual valve in the master cylinder not sealing to keep the 10lbs of pressure on the wheel cylinders. When I was bleeding I noticed if I broke the bleeder it didn't spurt out any fluid unless pressure was being applied to the pedal. I replaced the valve and the issue was gone............Tim
  23. Try swapping the plugs with a couple of the ones that are firing just in case it is a case of bad plugs...........Tim
  24. Greg, I agree completely. Given the way I use my '41 I think any of the pictured mounts would work. I was talking only of theory and extreme conditions that could explain a broken shock mount and the reasoning behind what looks like over-engineering of a simple piece. Time to go dream of rebound dampening and compression. Good night guys.........Tim
  25. Welcome, looking forward to some pics of your car..........Tim
