  1. Maybe everyone knows about this place but I just found it. Interesting in that they have machine shop services and parts for our old cars..........Tim http://www.hagensautoparts.com
  2. Smokey, Like Mossback44 said, to test an open type rear you have to turn the wheel two complete rotations and count drive-shaft rotations to find your true ratio. Some people recommend 20 revolutions and divide the shaft rotations by 10 but I didn't see a difference with mine. The explorer 8.8 I used was 1.5 inches shorter from the center of the axle to the face of the pinion flange than the old rear. I also used 1.5 inch spacers on each side to center my wheels in the fenders. I may end up going to deeper dish wheels so that would would be fine without the spacers.............Tim
  3. Keep us posted Smokeybear. The rear in my '41 was wider than I expected too.....Tim
  4. I have heard them called both. How many have heard them called "racks"? I remember phrases like: "We'll put 'er up on the rack and have a look."
  5. Congrats Bob. Believe it or not we took the '41 to its first show 20 years ago Memorial Day Monday. Wouldn't have thought about it if you hadn't posted this. A lot has changed, my daughter was 1 and now she is 21 and about to start her senior year of college. The old Dodge hasn't changed much though. Still makes me smile when I drive it. Thanks for reminding me..........Tim
  6. Very nice!
  7. I bought an '02 Durango new and that happened to mine twice while it was still under warranty. The mechanic told me he replaced a lot of those resistors. Not sure if there ever was a permanent fix..............tim
  8. Lots of info on the web about the Exploder 8.8" rears. Bolt pattern is the same as Mopar. I put one from a '93 in my "41 Dodge. Mine is a 3.27:1 and works well with the fluid drive. If not for the fluid drive I think a 3.55 or 3.73 might be better. The rear is a drum brake unit and is three inches narrower than my original which I made up with wheel spacers. The newer rears are disk brake units. Google search "explorer 8.8" for lots of info like this http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/Explorer8_8.html
  9. Bob, Hang in there. The important thing is that you and the family survived. The storm was a devastating thing for the community. I wish you all well...........Tim
  10. Since it happens when your engine temp is dropping, could it be related to your fans coming on and running? Maybe dropping voltage on the ignition circuit or possibly creating some type of electrical interference on the circuit. Just a thought.......Tim
  11. I have mine mounted on the floorboard between the driver and passenger. That way if I start running away scared my wife can put the fire out. Glad no-one was hurt in this fire. It sucks but the car can be replaced.........Tim
  12. Rodney, that Plymouth is awesome. I hope you get to feeling better soon. I miss tour posts on the forum...............Tim

  16. In the motorcycle world, Lucas, was known as "The Prince of Darkness" because he would eventually leave you in the dark as a buddy of mine with a Norton found out numerous times................Tim
  17. Very nice work! I share your philosophy on tools also. Occasional use stuff does not need to be top shelf to obtain top shelf results in hands like yours. However top shelf tools in hands like mine will still not achieve top shelf results. Much respect to you..............Tim
  18. looks to be well worth the effort. Nice job...............Tim
